Born Zayah Nicole Riley, Pretti Emage (pronounced Pretty Image) is an American Female Rapper and actress born and raised in Tampa Bay, Florida. At the start of her career, Pretti Emage was once a duo formed by two sisters before the group’s disbanding in 2021. Her music, a blend of Hip Hop and R&B, first entered the music scene in 2016. Since the beginning of her career as an independent artist, she began to break all barriers as a female rapper. Her creativity undoubtedly started a spark in the music industry like never before. From sing-along tunes to traditional Hip-Hop and some of the most influential music ever, Pretti Emage created a consistently growing fan base, earning her the right as the self-proclaimed “Princess of Hip-Hop.”
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The road to success is always challenging. I’ve dealt with adversity and other things that come with following your dream. I’ve lost some friends along the way, as well as relationships. I started in a music group with my sister in 2016, and once we disbanded back in 2021, one of the hardest things was picking up the pieces and continuing to keep moving forward and following my dream. I look back at that moment, and I am so grateful that I never gave up. Since then, my career has catapulted, and I’ve been on a steady incline.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My name is Pretti Emage, and I’m an independent female rapper and musician. I’m also a singer-songwriter and dancer. My music is a blend of Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B vibes. I’m best known for my song Earthquake, featured on the nominated Lizzo reality TV Show. I’m also an up-and-coming actress who can be seen on independent movies and television projects on Tubi, Vimeo, and Amazon. I’m most proud of my ability to adapt and reinvent myself, which also sets me apart from others.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Anyone bold enough to chase their dream is a risk taker. In the entertainment industry, you take risks every day because you have to be okay with being transparent and putting your entire life on display for the world to see. But I love what I do and my fans and supporters, and having a solid support team and family is very important. One of the risks as an entertainer is that you could lose yourself, but you must always keep yourself grounded. So I stay humble, I stay grounded, and I stay working.
