Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Rodriguez.
Hi Daniel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Since I was a kid, I have always been a huge fan of music and writing. It started as me writing short stories in middle school for English class. Eventually, it graduated to poetry/spoken word, and in 2008, when I heard Nicki Minaj for the first time on “The Come Up,” I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I spent years writing to random beats on YouTube but never felt I could. Then, in 2017, my bestfriend heard me spitting something I wrote and told me I should post a video. I did it and got some amazing feedback, and that was when I knew I was meant to be a Rapper/Songwriter. The first single I ever released was called “Demonz” in 2018, and I got so much praise from so many people, and I knew in that instant that this was my dream.
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a bumpy road. Being an independent aspiring artist without a team or help feels like a recipe for failure. You have to find your producers, engineers, and videographers. You have to pay for everything out of pocket. Being an independent artist is not for the weak. Another struggle is allowing negativity to discourage you from releasing music. There’s always good feedback, but along with that comes the bad feedback. People can be cruel, and you must have thick skin and keep pushing for what you love.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with what you do?
I am a Recording Artist/Songwriter and also a Photographer. I also own a women’s Resin jewelry line. I specialize in rap music, fashion accessories photography, and bulky fashion resin jewelry.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some changes you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
I see myself stepping back from the spotlight as an artist and becoming a songwriter for amazing new and older artists. I would love to open my record label and Make music great again. I would love to open a photography studio and sell my jewelry to some celebrity clients. Ultimately, building my brand and my empire is where I see myself in the next 5 years.
