Introducing Kristin Sanchez, the dynamic on-air personality ready to take South Florida by storm as the lifestyle and entertainment host of South Florida Live at NBC Miami. With an infectious energy and a passion for all things fun and exciting, Kristin is here to bring you what’s happening straight from the heart of South Florida. For the past five years, Kristin has been an integral part of the NBC 6 South Florida team, captivating audiences as a news and traffic anchor. But now, she’s ready to up the ante and dive headfirst into the world of lifestyle and entertainment. When it comes to South Florida, Kristin loves living here. Choosing to remain rooted in this vibrant community was a no-brainer for her. Her love for the local lifestyle and entertainment scene is evident in her dedication to where she calls home. She actively participates in various charitable initiatives across South Florida, like the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Miss Arc Broward, and Rebuilding Together Broward. She was also recognized as the Best Anchorwoman in 2020 and 2021 and voted Best Morning News Anchorwoman in 2022 and 2023 in the Fort Lauderdale Magazine. Together with her family, Kristin appeared on the cover of Miami Kid’s Magazine in December of 2021, highlighting her role as a working mom. In 2023, Kristin was honored with South Florida’s Prestigious Women Award by South Florida Business & Wealth. She thrives on immersing herself in the local culture, exploring the buzzing entertainment scene, and discovering the hidden gems that make South Florida truly unique.
Embracing her Ecuadorian heritage, Kristin adds an extra dash of sabor to everything she does. Her connection to her roots, inherited from her mother, who migrated to the United States from Ecuador at age 15, brings a special flair to her work and life. In South Florida, Kristin feels like her heritage truly comes alive in the Spanglish world she adores. It’s a celebration of cultural fusion that she can’t wait to share with her audience. Kristin grew up on Long Island, New York, and college led her to Florida. Fort Lauderdale has become her home since 2018. Kristin graduated from Florida Southern College with a degree in Broadcast, Print, and Online Media, plus a double minor in Spanish and Business – all in just three years! She’s always loved learning and storytelling, which led her to pursue a master’s in Public Relations at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communication. Her passion for journalism started at a young age, and she’s been informing and giving a voice to others ever since. Beyond her professional achievements, Kristin cherishes her role as a family girl. Quality time with her loved ones is a top priority, and she adores the moments spent with her husband, son, family, and friends. And here’s a heartwarming tidbit: Kristin’s love story started with a set-up by their siblings. Our first date was here in Fort Lauderdale in 2014. After navigating the challenges of a long-distance relationship, they now happily call South Florida home. In 2019, they tied the knot at the historic Church of the Little Flower, and their joy expanded with the arrival of their son two years later. Kristin is now expecting twin girls, due in January. When Kristin isn’t busy lighting up the screen, she’s making a difference in her community through philanthropic endeavors. She believes in the power of using her platform for good and is committed to positively impacting wherever she goes. Recognizing the importance of self-care amidst her demanding schedule, Kristin carves out precious moments to recharge and rejuvenate. From workouts and yoga to indulging in beauty treatments and embracing her love for travel, she understands that nurturing her well-being is essential to being there for the people and experiences that matter most in her life.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a challenging road for me. I’ve encountered my fair share of challenges along the way. I’ve heard many “no’s” and faced criticism where people said I wasn’t good enough. However, I chose to take those setbacks as motivation to improve and strive for more. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I’ve seen the results of my determination. But I never allow myself to get comfortable. I’m constantly pushing myself to grow as a host, reporter, anchor, and person. This drive to keep improving has been a key factor in my journey and has helped me overcome many obstacles.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I specialize in broadcast journalism, and it all started when I took on the role of a production assistant and weekend reporter. Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to be the host of one of South Florida’s hottest entertainment and lifestyle shows. You might know me as the fun-loving working mom who does everything, and it’s true! I’ve balanced being a mom and a wife, and nurturing a skyrocketing career. I’ve also got an incredible social life and an amazing group of friends I hold near and dear. I’m also a student at the University of Florida, getting my Master’s Degree in Public Relations. What makes me most proud, though, is the beautiful family I’ve built with my loving husband. Our two-year-old son is our shining light, and guess what? We’ve got even more blessings on the way – twin girls! Life couldn’t get any better.
Now, let’s talk about my career. I’ve worked my way up, from Tampa to Orlando, and even in Southwest Florida, before finding my true home in South Florida almost six years ago. I’ve immersed myself in the community, met some fantastic people, and built a brand and reputation that I’m incredibly proud of. What sets me apart? Well, it’s my unwavering determination. I’m the kind of person who won’t take ‘no’ for an answer. I approach my goals with kindness and respect but am driven to make things happen.
Please talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is having a great day at work, my husband is fed, and my son has a smile on my face. If I make it to a yoga class, that’s even better!
