Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Urbina.
Hi Will, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ever since I can remember, my mother would sit me in front of the television, and I would zone out and be immersed in that world. I’m the oldest of 2, so my little sister would stand in front of the television to annoy me. The older I got, the more I became the official cameraman for all the family parties because everyone in my family knew my passion. I would direct and record musicals of The Lion King with my sister and some of her friends. It wasn’t till later in life that I went to school for A/V and Media Production. But life had other plans for me, and this field was not it; while in school, I did a couple of indie films, mostly as an extra, but never went anywhere; in 2017, I was part of some Spanish Soap operas for Telemundo and was part of the supporting cast for “Republica Deportiva” Airing Live in Univision every Sunday. I landed in Orlando, FL, where I decided to start a voice-over career. I was able to land a few gigs and an extensive account as their official voice in Spanish; at the same time, one day on social media, I stumbled upon an ad from my Agent Beyond Beauty talent in Miami Fl and was signed on by them where I have done many commercials for them and recently did a 3 Episode SAG Series “Vuelve a Mi” airing in Telemundo, this was my first speaking role in a major network series. Aside from this, I have Produced various Indie projects, including a TV show seeking to be picked up. I host a podcast, “Common Grounds,” set to be released on Spotify in 2024. I’m working on a 6 part mini docuseries where we follow and get to know people with extraordinary lives and unique stories that will be coming out in 2024. Also, I will host a show for a band competition in 2024. I always thought I didn’t have “the look” to work in this industry, but I have been blessed and honored to have been working.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been an easy road; I was not taken seriously by the people close to me initially, and I thought this was just a phase that would wear out. Also, I didn’t know I had “the look.”
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an actor and producer In independent filmmaking and media production; currently, I’m the Executive Producer for WildStyle Media in Tampa, FL, and a Talent Scout for Beyond Beauty Talent, with offices in Miami and Atlanta—also the host of Common Grounds Podcast coming out in January of 2024.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson is that if you dream it and work hard for whatever you want, it is possible to make it happen, regardless of your industry and dreams.
