Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Jade.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I started BoHippi Express in 2021, selling my wood-burned art. In November of 2022, I discovered I could “wood-burn” hats, which completely changed how I viewed my business. Now, I could combine my love of fashion and my passion for art into a product that people could use to express their individuality and creativity. I create unique hand-burned hats whose designs are inspired by nature’s beauty.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As with anyone starting a small business, there have certainly been ups and downs, but overall, it’s been a mostly smooth road. The biggest struggle is impatience. I have a vision for where I want BoHippi Express to go and what I want it to be, and I want it all to happen right now. It’s been a huge lesson in patience and surrender.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business, BoHippi Express, creates and sells one-of-a-kind hand-burned hats. Each vegan suede hat is sourced ethically from suppliers across America, keeping the entire chain of production American-made. Each hat is different because it is designed and burned by hand rather than etched by a machine. These hats are just as unique and individual as each of our customers. BoHippi Express sells hand-burned baseball caps, cowboy hats, and fedoras. When you shop in person at our pop-ups and events and eventually our brick-and-mortar store, each hat purchase gives you access to our Hat Bar. This interactive experience allows shoppers to customize their hat bands with ribbons, feathers, playing cards, and more. We also offer Hat Burning Workshops for people who want to learn how to create their own personalized and unique hats.
What makes you happy?
The two things in life that, without fail, always light me up are art and nature. I have always been creatively inclined and love to see live theatre and stand-up comedy. I also enjoy painting and crafting. I love art, as I’ve created an entire business that utilizes my art skills. Nature makes me happy because it’s how I destress. When I’m overwhelmed, I go kayaking or hiking and return to peace, happiness, and contentment.
