Life & Work with Martin Imhof Carpenter of Hourglass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Imhof Carpenter.

Martin Imhof Carpenter

Hi Martin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated as a Graphic Designer, distinguishing myself for my involvement in various areas of communication and entertainment, especially in television and advertising. My career began as a child actor at the age of 8, and at 13, I decided to pause my acting career to complete my studies and pursue drumming with the dream of forming a rock band. During this time, I participated in over 105 commercials, collaborated with Warner Channel on a children’s TV show, acted in two movies, and had roles in over five TV programs. After obtaining my degree in graphic arts, I returned to the television industry as a host of a music TV show. This role allowed me to merge my music, television, and communication arts passions. Subsequently, I worked behind the scenes as a producer and creative professional in content and music. My diverse background as a musician, composer, and actor has been essential to my professional growth, providing me with a comprehensive understanding of the creative aspects of advertising campaigns. I maintained my career as a musician in parallel, editing albums and touring in different countries in Latin America and the USA. I even participated in my musical project in a reality show on MTV. Leveraging my professional experience with skills in acting, directing, casting, creativity, music, and the arts, I have played a pivotal role in the creation of significant campaigns. Creativity and art are inherently ingrained in my personal and professional identity, allowing me to share my vision of images, sounds, and words with a global audience.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In every path, there are challenges; otherwise, you would be traversing the path of wisdom, and to gain wisdom, one must confront challenges to understand and learn from new obstacles. Hearing ‘no’ is the hardest part, as is accepting it and persevering until someone says ‘yes.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us more about your work.
“I believe my greatest quality is creativity – thinking beyond the conventional, daring, being a part of, getting involved, and committing. It’s something I do in my day-to-day life, especially when I’m passionate about projects, whether acting, creating a campaign, designing a flyer, recording an album, communicating, producing, writing, or simply observing and listening to my surroundings. I am very proud that throughout my journey, I have achieved goals that, even though I saw them as very distant, I reached. Dreaming softly allows you to reach that dream more quickly and think about the next step. It helps me not to get frustrated and gives me that pat on the shoulder, saying: ‘You’re doing well.'”

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
