Hi Melissa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I developed an early passion for film at a young age. Our Friday night routine was watching movies with my dad with a giant bowl of popcorn and a soda. I majored in Cinema Studies in college at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and knew I wanted to be in the movie industry in some capacity. My interests were primarily focused on Cinema Analysis and cinematography, as I enjoyed being in the editing room and creating a visual masterpiece. I learned extensive video editing techniques and some marketing courses. I quickly developed a love for social media and expressed my creativity via an online presence with Instagram and TikTok. I created my own YouTube channel in the summer of 2022 as I searched for another outlet to explore my video editing and gain social media recognition. For the past two years, I have established a strong presence on my channel documenting the Orlando entertainment lifestyle- publishing videos focusing on Central Florida theme parks, popular restaurant spots, exciting nightlife, and even some special holiday events as a monthly spotlight. It has been one of the best experiences and a dream come true to do what I love. I can’t wait to see what’s next for me to keep growing my presence in Orlando and beyond!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road, but life has a way of humbling you sometimes. I initially struggled to establish my presence on my YouTube channel as I was very new to the area and had to set myself apart from other Orlando influencers. I needed to create my style and vibe to separate myself, which has worked out great for me so far!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have my YouTube channel, themagicwithmel, and a TikTok channel with the same name. I specialize in Orlando amusement entertainment, such as theme parks, restaurants, nightlife, and hidden gems in and around the city. I also explore other areas in central Florida, as I love to travel and am always up for an adventure. I’m most proud of my dedication and ambition for the last two years, and I hope to continue creating fun videos and content for others! My brand is set apart because I try to remain inclusive with those traveling with financial limitations, who may need cheaper or more affordable options, or families coming for a short visit. I also adapt to those.
Do you have any big plans?
My plans include gaining my social media presence while remaining genuine and authentic to my audience and improving my video editing techniques, as I can only improve. I also plan to travel outside of Florida and visit other theme parks in the US. Lots of big changes and a bright future ahead!
