Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessica Krammer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Krammer.

Jessica Krammer

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got started by accident – I was dealing with personal skin care struggles that I had been battling for over 10 years with long-term acne, and nothing worked. After numerous failed doctor solutions/prescriptions, etc. I turned to Google and began to search to see if anyone else had issues like mine. I started finding more and more articles about toxic skin care products, chemical reactions and allergies, and how the beauty world is filled with the most harmful ingredients. I grabbed my most used products and started researching each ingredient, and by the end, I was in complete disgust. Ingredients that are linked to cancer, skin irritation, allergies, asthma, cystic acne, congenital disabilities when used by pregnant women, and on and on and on of life-altering and life-ending conditions that no one was aware of back in about 2010. I searched to see if there were any natural products around, and back then, there really wasn’t much available, and even the more natural products were still full of junk. So I decided to go to my kitchen and see what I had that could be used instead. I read up on lots of oils and ingredients and what they did for the skin, and after a few weeks of using my products and getting rid of all of my other things, my skin cleared up. I used to put my concoctions into reused jelly jars and glass containers. At the time, I worked full-time in an office environment, and people would see these jars on my desk and ask questions after seeing me scoop out stuff and put it on my skin. My boss had a family member with horrible allergies, and so she asked if I’d make her some to give to try. Then another, then another. So, I decided to make a handful of products and open up at a local farmers market. It went so well. I did the farmer’s markets for a few years, opened a retail store in downtown Winter Garden in 2014, and launched my website a few years later. Just recently, we have converted to online only.

Let’s dig deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you overcome?
I have been very blessed in my journey. When the focus is on quality and the customer, everything else will fall into place. Since I started this brand, my mission has been to help people become aware of harmful products and offer solutions. We are customer-centered, and many of my customers have been with me for 12 years or close to it, know me by name, and can call or text my cell at any time. My customers have become family to me, and because of that, the biggest struggle for me was surviving the pandemic, as it was for almost every business owner. Personal challenges also happened along the way when it came to work-life balance. When I opened my store, I had my first child, and then 2 years later, I had my second. I was a stay-at-home mom but also running my business, so there was a lot of stress to balance my world. Running a business takes a ton of work. Still, since I also hand-make all of my products, there’s an extra layer on top, typically its own separate business: manufacturing.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My favorite part of this business is that I develop/formulate, and hand-manufacture all of my products. I have researched ingredients and what they do and combined them in specific ways to make every product unique. Currently, we have about 75 different SKUs, but at one point, we offered over 150. I love coming up with new products and recipes and bringing them to life to give to our customers. To this day, I still personally make every product sold.
