In the early 2000s, Benjamin commenced his journey in the construction realm amid the sun-kissed landscapes of Florida. Over ten years, he skillfully framed approximately 150 homes. Between 2008 and 2012, Benjamin dedicated his expertise to federally funded sound abatement projects, leaving his mark on Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Stuart, and Key West. After this venture, he delved into the realm of intricate high-end remodels, established a woodworking shop in Apopka, & began crafting beautiful pieces of furniture. Benjamin’s insatiable thirst for knowledge, coupled with an unwavering commitment to question and understand, propelled him to master carpentry, drafting, and the overarching principles and practices of engineering. In 2018, the seeds of Ohana Outdoor Living were sown during casual discussions, and today, Benjamin’s wealth of experience resonates throughout the brand’s selections, designs, and the incorporation of high-quality outdoor features. His passion for the craft drives his aspiration to delve into the study of architecture, exploring its influence on our emotions and desires about a space. It goes beyond mere materials and design; it’s about the intricate dance between elements. The pursuit of simplicity, far from being a straightforward achievement, encapsulates the essence of his philosophy.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Switching gears from new construction to remodeling, influencing people not to think conventionally and to understand just because a style or approach is typical to a region does not mean it’s required.

We specialize in making your backyard a place you want to be, which enhances the interior space. I help take a customer’s vision and guide it into a final product. Onsite, everyone is known for calling me Ben Built, as I am the one who motivates the crews, pays attention to detail, and ensures that the finished product is of the utmost standard of achievable perfection. I am most proud of the ability to make someone’s dream come true while minimally impacting the source of the materials, the earth. We strive to use locally harvested & milled lumber and recycle materials rather than simply combining everything in one dumpster because it’s easier and is the industry standard & creates beautiful things as a result. What sets us apart is the quality. The goal is to build a beautiful, inviting space rather than a simple building or minimize effort to match the competition.
What makes you happy?
Happiness comes from the inside, and that same internal happiness allows me to focus and pull inspiration to be creative. Happiness is knowing that the space we create and execute brings people together and makes lasting memories, and I get to be a part of that.
