KAP Productions, spearheaded by the dynamic duo of Lisa Malcolm and Jax Malcolm, originated from Jax’s early engagement with the entertainment industry as an actor, writer, director, and producer since he was five. This foundation led to the creation of KAP Productions, motivated by a desire to explore and contribute to various storytelling avenues beyond acting. Jax Malcolm’s passion for generating innovative and exciting content has guided the company to produce various projects, ranging from award-winning web series to films like “Jingle Trails,” which has gained recognition on platforms like Amazon. The company aims to produce diverse content, and it is currently developing projects across genres, including horror, reality series, and audio fiction.
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey for KAP Productions has been challenging. Transitioning from in front of the camera to behind it required learning new skills and overcoming the inherent difficulties of content production. The COVID-19 pandemic posed significant obstacles, halting many projects in progress. Despite these hurdles, the company has adapted and is moving forward, actively seeking investors for its newest slate of projects as it aims to continue creating innovative content.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
From the perspective of KAP Productions, the most important lesson we’ve learned along our journey is the essence of resilience: when one door closes, another opens. In the unpredictable world of film and web series production, challenges such as project cancellations or unforeseen obstacles, notably industry strikes, can initially seem like setbacks. However, these moments have taught us the invaluable skill of adaptability and the importance of staying open to new opportunities; facing industry-wide disruptions like strikes, each challenge has been a catalyst for growth, pushing us to explore new creative avenues, diversify our content, and form partnerships that may not have been considered otherwise. This mindset of looking for the next open door has sustained us and allowed us to thrive in the ever-evolving entertainment landscape.
