Today we’d like to introduce you to Yuriana Socorro.
Hi Yuriana, can you introduce yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’m from Venezuela, an architect by conviction and a chocolatier by passion. I started as a chocolatier as a hobby and discovered that this activity was pleasurable and anti-stress for me. For country reasons, at this time, I had to leave the country and move to the Dominican Republic, where I tried to start this business. Still, the weather was too hot, and it got a little complicated because it did not have the perfect conditions to make chocolate. This activity requires a particular climate; on a family trip, I met my husband and moved to Orlando since, at the beginning, I did not have a “legal” status. I continue to work remotely as an architect. I remembered my passion and hobby, so I returned to the chocolate business, and the goal is to grow my “small business” for now.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been easy because, as I said, I left Venezuela to live in another country where I did not have the ideal conditions. If I did, it was costly to maintain it. At that time, I had to dedicate myself to my career and then move to another country again and start from “scratch” with a different community, a completely different country. So, adapt again to a system and a new market niche.
What matters most to you?
The most important thing has always been to be happy, and if I can give that possibility to others, then why not share it? And I think that carrying a pinch of sweetness combined with a sensory experience of flavors is much more pleasant than a happy moment
