Today we’d like to introduce you to Francesca Cook.

Francesca Cook

Hi, Francesca. It’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us. To start, could you share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello. Thank you for this opportunity and for learning more about my story. I knew at a young age I wanted to be a counselor. I loved helping people and hearing their unique stories. I believed everyone’s story mattered and everyone has a voice that deserves to be heard. I planned on entering graduate school after graduating with a bachelor’s in psychology, but that did not happen. After working in another career and marrying my husband, I was able to move into the counseling world. When I began, I never thought I would say I was a practice owner, and I still cannot. My business, Replenish Counseling, LLC, is newly opened in 2024.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road could have been a smoother one. Like I said, I knew I would be a counselor at a young age. I thought I would attend undergraduate and graduate school, but that was different. Life happened, and it did not come to fruition the way I planned. I worked in the 401k accounting field (third-party administrator) for 7+ years. While this was a good career, it was not where my heart was. I returned to school and pursued my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Leaving the 401k industry and a steady career was intimidating, but I knew I was called to become a counselor and help others. I have gained various techniques from working in private practice and community mental health. Recently, I began my journey as a business owner in private practice. I am thankful for the people I can work with daily and honored to be in this field.

Thanks for sharing that. Please tell us more about your business.
I own and operate Replenish Counseling, LLC, in Daytona Beach, FL. I specialize in working with trauma with a Master of Accelerated Resolution Therapy certificate and am certified in Sand Tray Therapy, along with other training. I utilize play therapy techniques when working with children. I also enjoy utilizing expressive techniques in therapy because sometimes we cannot find the right words or state our feelings, but we can express them in art, sand tray, play, etc. Replenish Counseling, LLC; my hope is for it to reflect the meaning of the word replenishes; this a place people can come to restore, renew, and be refilled. When I think of the word replenish and the brand, I think of water, refilling the new and emptying the old, cleansing and restoring ourselves. My goal with Replenish Counseling, LLC is to provide a space where people can tell their stories and be heard.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Mental health will continue to grow the way it is now. As society becomes more open to discussing life’s challenges and struggles and being accepted, the past sigma will continue to fade. Anyone can go to counseling; maybe you had a significant life change or need a sounding board.
