Today we’d like to introduce you to Álvaro Ramírez.
Hi Álvaro, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a Venezuelan cook with more than 12 years of experience doing what I love. I come from a rich culture Venezuelan city and am passionate about food and our culture. My cooking passion comes from my family, especially my grandmother, who taught me her respect and philosophy about food. Then, I started working in restaurants and hotels, learning about the hospitality business and developing skills in food techniques and diversity. I work with my family, and we all share the same love for what we do. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to show the Orlando community all that we are and what we love.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
In my chef’s career, some challenges would be the intense work schedules, high-pressure environments, managing a diverse kitchen team, maintaining consistency in food quality, dealing with customer complaints and critics, and staying updated with culinary trends. Balancing creativity with the need for cost-effective menus can also be a challenge. Chefs must adapt, stay organized, and continuously refine their skills to overcome these obstacles in the dynamic culinary industry.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I grew up working in very different restaurant scenarios. I am currently examining French, Spanish, and Italian cuisines from Venezuela. I have found that I like and enjoy combining them all.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My mentors have always been the chefs and cooks I worked with growing up in the industry. I’m very grateful for what I’ve learned from them!
