Conversations with Lara Tapia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lara Tapia.

Hi Lara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have a car accident. I had a car accident when I started in yoga science. I ran twice a day for exercise, but I knew it was impacting my body in some way, but I liked it a lot, I have always needed and loved exercising that connection beyond with the body. But having that car accident where my car was totally lost I had to stop running but I began to investigate that other exercises existed for people who could not make a high impact or for injured bodies in that search I found my Yoga teacher who more What teacher was and is a guide through the teachings of history, theory and practice.

At first, I did not like it, I found it strange and I wasted time in each position and each exercise, but it was that or nothing because I could not with much pain due to the accident, I did not bend a knee, my back hurt my neck, etc. so I continued my classes, then I began to connect with his way of teaching, he talked about the spiritual part while we worked with the body and that resonated with me, I felt more complete, something in me began to connect, tying up the dots between what we are like. Humans. The body, the mind and the I (soul) energy began to investigate to study more about that that almost does not speak of the spiritual part of the being of purpose of who you are of what you came to be and one day she (the teacher) asked Who wanted to be a Yoga teacher and I said inside myself not because I studied journalism and interior decorator, however I began to remember that when I was little I gave exercises to my friends and sister something in me became active I realized that she saw more there and I had forgotten.

Although I had studied passionate careers which I practice, I became a Yoga teacher as she saw it, I was a student for three years or so and I still am, but one day she could not give her class and she sent me that was my test I took a course at your school and from there another world opened for me I went to India to study the hostoria the base with my brother, I went to Thailand, New York, Miami, Europe in order from Puerto Rico I went out to the world. I am a communicator of this science by study and experience. I have been 20 years now and then I began to study the Pilates technique with the only person who is certified by the creator of this technique Joseph Pilates and this complements my practice one hundred percent. I have worked in the media, newspapers, radio, television, I did the largest event in Puerto Rico, Respira Puerto Rico where 1000 people went to San Felipe del Morro, a historical place to know and enjoy a whole day breathing doing yoga, meditation among other things. I wanted to leave a legacy in my land and wherever I go. my body was recovering from that accident and today I work with all kinds of bodies, structures and I understood that the body deserves exercises that do not hurt and integrate the need of each one his emotional and spiritual part. I am currently an ambassador and communicator of this art creating my own method.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Talking about this topic in my time and taking it to television and radio was not easy, it was strange from another culture and the West barely learned new ways of living integrating other sciences and knowing the art of Relaxation. I had to break bars, receive no but I continued until I was able to be a voice and reach more people. Currently I moved to Orlando, FL and although there is already a road traveled I have also had to start and open doors with more experience but it is still a beginning.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a body movement artist of the Health and improve our quality of life. I love writing creating new ways of relating to my students in my exercises. I also love creating unique energetic and creative spaces for visual health and harmony. I am proud of how far we can go to create new concepts and ideas thanks to our experiences and the solid foundation that the right people and committed teachers leave you. I like to be a pioneer and take the message where it has not reached. Working in prison will be among the first to enter there and leave a legacy changing lives.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like the people the organization the space, the mix of cultures weather and the a lot of places that you can enjoy.
