Daily Inspiration: Meet Sanjana Singh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sanjana Singh.

Sanjana Singh

Hi Sanjana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved being creative and emotional; it’s easier for me to express myself through art. I used to enjoy painting, drawing, and other fun crafts. I never thought it could reach a wider audience, significantly growing up in a middle-class family in India where education was the priority. I was good at math, so I studied that in college and worked at a bank for a while. I never imagined I’d paint again until I met my partner, who lived in the US. While waiting for my work permit, I rediscovered my love for painting and started again, even trying canvas for the first time. People were surprised at how good I was, and that encouraged me to start a YouTube channel where thousands of people watched my videos and loved my art. Now, I have my art studio at home, with over 10k subscribers and students coming to learn from me. I’m living my dream life as an artist.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been like riding a roller coaster—full of highs and lows. Despite facing many challenges, my passion for painting keeps me motivated. The most challenging part is staying patient and persistent, especially when every day feels essential. I work on YouTube daily, even when the numbers fluctuate, not knowing if it will pay off. With a Master’s Degree in Finance, switching to art is a significant change. Enjoying art as a hobby differs from selling it and reaching a wider audience, which requires hard work beyond being creative. Thankfully, I have my husband’s support, both emotionally and financially. I’ve learned a lot from my past mistakes and continue learning daily. The thought of all I still want to accomplish keeps me going, even though success isn’t guaranteed. Starting a business with my artwork feels like a great fit, even though it’s long and challenging. Seeing progress keeps me motivated to keep moving forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to be more familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
Hello, I’m an artist who has been creating landscape paintings since the very beginning. The beauty of nature serves as my primary inspiration, captivating me with its perpetual freshness and wonder. To me, nature is the ultimate masterpiece crafted by a divine hand. I delight in the myriad hues found in plants, trees, flowers, clouds, and mountains, each captivating me uniquely. I strive to capture these colors faithfully through my brushstrokes, aiming to create my masterpiece someday. Being self-taught, I’ve never attended any formal art school; I consider nature my most excellent teacher and art school. Every day, I glean new lessons and inspiration from the natural world, which I translate onto my canvas. On my YouTube channel, “Sanjana’s Brushstrokes,” I’m recognized for my distinct style, primarily focusing on landscapes, flowers, cityscapes, seascapes, and occasional animal portraits. Setting myself apart, I prefer to work swiftly, completing paintings in less time than spending countless hours on a single piece. However, there are exceptions where I invest ample time to ensure perfection. My live-streaming format on YouTube has garnered significant appreciation as viewers witness the painting process from start to finish without any edits, finding solace and joy in the experience. Ultimately, I aim to provide viewers with a masterpiece they can witness being created live, fostering a sense of tranquility and happiness.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
Always hold on to your dreams because sometimes things work out unexpectedly to make them happen. Stay open to new opportunities, even when things seem harsh. Remember, even in difficult times, there’s still something good waiting for you, so keep an eye out for it and trust it when you find it. Your dreams don’t expire, so keep believing in them. And when you finally spot your chance, take your time and enjoy the journey. Success might come quickly or take a while, but you’ll remember the journey itself most.
