Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy McWherter.
Cassidy is a multiple-time CrossFit Games Athlete. Her best finish was 8th in 2014, but her most accomplished she says was 2017, where she placed 12th. Prior to CrossFit, Cassidy grew up competing in gymnastics, where she followed her passion to The University of Washington on a full-ride athletic scholarship, earning a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Nutrition. She then completed her Master’s in Rehabilitation at Texas Tech University. At the same time and prior to CrossFit, Cassidy coached gymnastics for 12 years at very prestigious gymnastics facilities. Cassidy prides herself on being a very technical coach. She has a passion and love for fitness and it truly shows through her coaching. In her spare time, you can find her at the lake surfing, water skiing or wakeboarding. If you’re lucky, she will bring you along. 🙂
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, but everything has been worth all the hard parts. It’s what makes your journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We have two world-class facilities located in the Central Florida location in Orlando and Lake Mary. CrossFit, Yoga, Olympic Weightlifting, Gymnastics, 6-week challenges, cardio classes, and Nutrition Consultation are offered at our facilities. We welcome all levels of fitness. All of our classes are overseen by a professional coaching staff with multiple years of experience. Please come in and make yourself at home. We are here to help in any way we can. Here at WaterSide, we make YOU our priority.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
So many. But the biggest is, people have their own story, they have their own struggles, they have their own beliefs and whether you believe in those or not you still need to respect people. It’s hard on everyone. I think covid really brought out the best and worst in people. It showed their true colors. But more importantly, it taught me to be kind, to listen more. To really pay attention to the needs of others.
