Today we’d like to introduce you to Tali Gallo.
Hi Tali, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
2004, I was recruited to work for a local bridal retailer in Gainesville and Orlando, FL. In many ways, I grew up in the industry since I started when I was 19. The bridal shop owner, Newell Fox, trusted me with most aspects of the business. Throughout my 13 years working for the company, I learned the ins and outs of business operations. I’m very grateful for all the lessons I learned while employed under such a strong leader and someone who allowed me to carry my sense of ownership. In 2017, It was time for Mr. Fox to pivot out of the bridal industry. I assisted with the process of selling the company, which was a whole learning lesson in itself. During the sale, I was 9 months pregnant with my first child. After a few months of reflecting on many significant changes happening at once, I decided it was time to open up my bridal shop. Ass a new mom, I decided that having a business was the right approach. Roberta Noronha, who I worked with at the former bridal shop, joined me in opening The Bridal Finery. We took our 13 years of bridal experience and opened up our dream boutique in the heart of Winter Park, FL.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and No; coming from over a decade of bridal experience, some aspects felt like repetition. Creating the experience we wanted for our clients felt natural. Some struggles were needing more cash to start the business, learning business finance to manage cash flow, when to expand, covid, how to hire better, creating systems for everything, and navigating the challenges of being in a business partnership.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Bridal Finery is a full-service boutique specializing in bridal attire for special orders and off-the-rack. We started the bridal finery in 2017 to bring a private styling experience to the Central FL bride. Now, we reach brides all over the U.S. looking for a designer wedding dress and an experienced stylist to help them find the one. We are serious when we mean full-service. We take those words to the full extent. If the bride needs help making a custom bridal choker to match her dress, we make it. If a bride needs help finding vendors, we curate a list. We translate all the seamstress jargon if she needs help during her alteration appointments. We are all in! That is what sets us apart. I’m most proud of our brand’s ability to focus on our client and team. We are very client and employee-centric. Both go hand in hand. Our daily goal is for the team to be happy and the client to be satisfied. That puts much pressure on us as leaders, but we work well under pressure. We are quick to pivot away from an idea if it doesn’t meet the heads of our clients and team.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Hardworking – there isn’t a day that I don’t work hard. Flexible – In the retail environment, each day is constantly shifting.
Resilient – Looking back on life, this is my #1 word. I’ve overcome many challenges and continue to move forward.
