Hi Tax Pro Lee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello everyone, my name is Lyssandra Lopez but many of you know me as Tax Pro Lee. As a single mom to a beautiful 9-year-old princess, I strive to be the best mother to my child and within that brings out the hustler in me. Ever since I was little, I always had that goal getter mindset as I got older, I leaned more toward the sales industry because of the simple fact I am a people person and love to network and constantly grow and learn new things. Soon as I turned 18 years old, I started working for Metro by T-Mobile I was there for about 10 years, a lot of people always asked why you still work there? My answer was always because I loved what I did, and the money was good (which was true).
As a sales representative and a team leader I developed skills such as active listening, patience, relationship building, being assertive, and many more traits. As time goes by you outgrow things and I knew it was my time to begin a new journey when the owner of the Metro’s stores decided to sell the stores to another individual, at that point the pay wasn’t the same and the vibe was off, that was my que to find something different.
In 2020 I decided to partner up with my business partner Luis aka Striver who was doing taxes, he was actually my tax guy prior to me doing taxes so I knew I was learning from the goat himself. I remember to this day me calling him up like “Hey you got me this year right” his response was ” What you mean, you are doing your own taxes this year”. At that moment the whole game changed for me, I am not even going to lie I was super scared at first because up until today the market is still saturated with so many people that do taxes. What made me overcome my fear was confidence and knowing no one is like YOU, I don’t just input your data into software and send you off about your business, I actually take my time with my clients and interpret the data being inputted so you can have a clear understanding of your refund and how taxes actually work. I am not just a seasonal tax agent I am a tax professional that is available to my clients all year long for assistance whether it’s a simple tax question or if they are starting a new job and need help filling out the tax forms, they know they can count on me, and I am just a call away. Providing excellent service to all my clients and caring for each and every one of them sets me apart from your average tax agent and has gotten me to where I am today with a massive amount of loyal clients – shoutout to you all, I love you all!
With deep sales background along with doing taxes I decided to add real estate to my portfolio. I went for my realtor license and obtained it, as you already know I am a people person and have a passion of helping others so why not help people make the biggest decision of their life while also helping them financially with their taxes, it’s a win-win situation or like my team would say one stop shop. By obtaining licensure as a Realtor, I am equipped to provide comprehensive guidance to clients navigating the complexities of real estate transactions while also offering expert tax advice tailored to their specific financial circumstances. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would be lying if I said it has been a smooth road, it’s more like a you vs you mentality when growing and elevating in any business. Some of my struggles came from confidence, in the beginning of me doing taxes I was scared to reach out to people or even break down their return to them but then realized if I don’t believe in myself no one else will. It’s important to recognize that confidence is not a fixed trait but rather a skill that can be developed and strengthened over time and that’s exactly what happened. Taking small steps outside of your comfort zone, setting achievable goals, and celebrating your successes, no matter how small, can help build confidence gradually. Remember that confidence is a journey, and setbacks are a natural part of the process. Be patient with yourself, stay resilient, and believe in your ability to grow and thrive despite any challenges you may face.
Another struggle I had was getting in front of the camera and posting. For me to be a people person I sure am camera shy, and when I first started, I didn’t know what to post but sometimes you have to think outside the box and make it fun, not everything has to be so serious. Overcoming camera shyness can be a gradual process, but with practice and patience, it’s entirely achievable. To this day I have my days where I am still camera shy, but I have an incredible team behind me that pushes me to achieve anything I have in mind, and I get over it. Remember, becoming comfortable on camera is a journey, and it’s okay to progress at your own pace. Celebrate your achievements along the way, and don’t be too hard on yourself if you encounter setbacks. With persistence and dedication, you’ll gradually build the confidence you need to shine in front of the camera.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I listen to motivational videos daily first thing in the morning from Eric Thomas, Gary Vee, Jim Rohn, Steve Harvey, etc. Instead of listening to music when you first wake up start your morning off right with positivity and gratitude, I promise you will feel like you can take on anything that day. I am currently reading You Owe You by Eric Thomas now and I am in love with the book. When I was younger, I never liked to read but I realized it’s not about reading it’s about what you’re reading.
