Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaotic .
Hi Kaotic, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was introduced to rap music when I was kid, and ever since the first time I heard it I knew I wanted to do it. I started writing poetry which then turned into writing it over music. I started recording myself on a gaming headset when I was in high school but never really took it seriously. A couple years out of high school I was hanging out at a friend’s house that had recording equipment and they were working on a song and asked if I wanted to record a verse. I swear the first time doing that I fell in love with it and I went and bought my own equipment that week. Started off just taking beats off YouTube and uploading the songs on Soundcloud. I pressed my first mixtape not long after that and started selling them to friends and co workers. People were liking what they were hearing but the quality was just not there because I didn’t know how to mix and master myself. Which eventually led me to meeting Ryan Palma at Redwall Recording studio and from there everything changed. Released two full length studio albums, working with artist such as Merkules, Lil Flip, Evil Ebenezer, and more. I hit the Itunes Charts for the first time this year with my single Outcast. I’ve done more than 15 shows local and across the United States. I signed a distribution deal with Bentley Records in 2023. I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2024 brings me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing about the music industry is smooth or easy. It takes a lot of time, energy, sacrifice, and work to get through it on a daily basis. One of the biggest struggles in the music industry is dealing with shady people and being able to tell if something is authentic or not. As artist we are targets of a lot of scams and people trying to screw us over. I think one of the biggest things I have learned is you can’t always be nice. If you work on something and you don’t like how it comes out or want something changed you have to know when to say something and speak up.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a hip hop/rap recording artist, songwriter, and music performer. I’ve been told that I specialize in writing catchy hooks. I would say that I am known for my no cares given attitude, lyricism, and being able to do different types of styles of songs. I would say that I am most proud at this moment of hitting the Canada iTunes Hip hop charts this year. One thing about me as an artist is I am very different from everybody else. I have my own sound and I don’t try to copy other artist. I just do me and what I want to do.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I quite my 9-5 at the beginning of last year to pursue music as a full time artist. Which is by far the biggest risk I have taken with music. I decided that this was what I wanted to do and I was going all in on it. Making music is all about taking risk. It cost a lot of money, and time which means you are taking a risk on your finances, and not being around your loved ones as much as you would like to be.
