Today we’d like to introduce you to Erwin Fowler
Hi Erwin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well, I’ve been writing since i was 8 years old with my first animated series called Nacho & Dog which was based on the old taco bell cartoon commercials from Taco Bell in the late 90’s. Continued writing sitcoms for me to star in because I was seeking a network deal with Nickelodeon Studios as a child all the way up until I was nineteen.
When I turned 21. I wrote an early shot version of “Pressure Pleasure Pain” screenplay which I am still producing now. At 22 I decided to turn it into a full-length picture and started my own production company V.I.P Productions. And wrote my first children’s book entitled “3 Kids & Self Esteem” but struggled to get it published. A little over a decade later I signed with Aliveshoe and Designed my first pair of shoes called The Perry Pernell “Shooting Stars” in which I’ve won the viewer’s pick Award for. Fast forward up until now. I’ve won The Mom’s Choice Award for ” 3 Kids & Self Esteem”, Best Screenplay for a not yet funded “Pressure Pleasure Pain”. As for The Perry Pernell shoe brand, out of 4 pairs of shoes I designed, I’ve won an Award for 3 of them. I’ve also re-branded my production company out of The V.I.P Pictures name.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My struggles were, that it took 14 years for me to finally get ” 3 Kids & Self Esteem” published. It was difficult to market my shoes because of lack of funding. Plus, me and my team still haven’t gotten ” Pressure Pleasure Pain” financed. Although we have Worldwide Theatrical Distribution in theaters lined up in the future once the film is completed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well as I mentioned earlier, I’ve been writing tv shows at the early age of 8 years old. I’m an Actor/Writer/Producer/Children’s Book Author/Shoe Designer. I’ve won about 60 Awards and Certificates in my lifetime, half of those being from writing alone.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Just network and don’t be afraid to open up about whatever it is that you do. Whether if it’s a hobby or a career profession.
