Nidhi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Swami By Nidhi as a personal journey of self-love and growth, aiming to understand myself better and build my confidence. I wanted to appreciate who I am and, in turn, inspire others to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery. I’ve always believed that what we wear can greatly influence how we feel, so during the COVID lockdown, I decided to take a step further.
I bought a sewing machine from Joann and immersed myself in learning how to sew through TikTok tutorials and YouTube videos. I began sewing in my college apartment, transforming my ideas into tangible pieces that reflected my personality and style. This process not only empowered me but also allowed me to connect with others who share a passion for self-expression through fashion. Through Swami By Nidhi, I hope to encourage everyone to embrace their individuality and pursue their own paths of self-love and confidence.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! Wearing all the different hats—like managing production, sourcing materials, and handling marketing—has been really challenging. But honestly, those struggles have pushed my knowledge and helped me grow so much as an entrepreneur. Each obstacle has taught me valuable lessons about resilience and creativity, and it’s all part of what Swami by Nidhi stands for: embracing challenges and discovering your true self. Every experience has shaped the brand and reinforced my mission to empower others to express their individuality.
We’ve been impressed with Swami By Nidhi, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Swami by Nidhi is all about empowerment through fashion. I handmake each piece of clothing, creating original designs and patterns from scratch. My focus is on crafting unique garments that resonate with those who wear them—especially for the bold and confident individuals who want to express their true selves.
What sets Swami apart is the way my clothing empowers people. Each piece is designed to make the wearer feel important and exude confidence. I believe that fashion is more than just aesthetics; it’s a form of self-expression that can transform how someone feels about themselves.
I’m most proud of the community that has formed around Swami. It’s incredible to see how my designs inspire confidence and encourage others to embrace their individuality. I want readers to know that every item is crafted with care and intention, aimed at uplifting and celebrating the wearer. We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is feeding the birds on the dock of my parents motel with my grandfather. It would start with just one bird, and then suddenly, out of nowhere, they would all appear, flapping their wings and swooping down for the bread.
