Daily Inspiration: Meet Jeremy Scouten

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Scouten

Jeremy , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up as a homeschool student, I found myself searching for new and exciting hobbies. Finding my way through various activities, I found myself trying to learn how to solve the Rubix Cube by watching YouTube videos. After dedicating time and effort I finally figured it out and continued to practice and get better at it. Eventually, I thought, why don’t I make my own videos on how to solve this puzzle? And so I did. At 13 years of age, I made my own YouTube account with my mom, downloaded iMovie, and got to work. Overtime, I became more invested in learning not only about video creation, but about technology in general, sparking my current engagement in the photography/videography field.

Today, I currently work for Lake Sumter State College as a videographer and editor in their production studio, as well as the media creator for First Academy Leesburg High School Football Team. I also run my own side hustle labeled SBG (Saved By Grace) Productions, which opens to local families and businesses for their creative needs.

Working for Lake Sumter for over two years has given me access to a professional environment that has enhanced my work ethic and experience in the field. Over these few years, I have been given great opportunity and instruction from my boss Naomi González, as well as winning two Silver Telly Awards with the amazing crew in the studio.

As I continue to develop my skills and build up my portfolio, I look to achieve my ultimate goal of being a videographer/photographer for professional sports teams, specifically in the NFL or MLB. Creativity is a gift I thank God for giving me everyday. I love what I do and I love who I do it for.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This journey hasn’t always been the smoothest. Trying to grow my skills in the industry doesn’t just take talent or practice, it also requires money. It’s an expensive hobby to have and requires patience to wait for the money to be saved to be able to invest in better equipment.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a full time videographer/photographer. I specialize in photo, video, and editing with some experience in graphic design and marketing.

I am most proud of the person my family has raised me to be. I would’t have anything without them. I’m also proud of my faith. I know without Christ, everything I have is meaningless. He has given me these talents and skills for me to share and I am very grateful.

What sets me apart from others is the desire to serve those I work for to the best of my ability. To give them unique creative creations as I say and make special moments, lasting memories.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I look to either find myself working in the professional industry or having my own independent business,
