Conversations with Stephen Lamar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Lamar

Hi Stephen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Stephen Lamar got out of the Navy in 2016 and found acting therapeutic during his transition from military service to civilian life. As a Reactor Operator on a fast attack submarine, he was used to working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse team, the perfect preparation for a career in show business. When he found he had a knack for acting, he jumped in with both feet and hasn’t stopped running since. Stephen has appeared in films on Amazon, Tubi, and Lifetime, as well as in many theatre productions.

Brittany Abdizadeh grew up performing as both an actress and a dancer. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communication, she quickly made a name for herself writing copy for internationally known coaches like Russell Brunson and John C. Maxwell. She ran her marketing business for 7 years before diving back into the world of acting. Since then, she’s appeared in several theatre productions, short films, and features.

Stephen and Brittany met in an acting class and were immediately drawn to partnership — both in life and in business. They created Just Us Studio in 2023 to serve as a creative home for their collective works.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Since founding Just Us Studio, Stephen and Brittany have produced a limited children’s series on YouTube, sent Stephen’s short film, “Chameleon Kid” to festivals worldwide, and published two children’s books. They have also begun writing several short films and features. With each medium and process, there is a distinct learning curve, and while it was challenging to grow such a wide variety of skills, they now have a lot of expertise to draw from as they continue to create.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Stephen and Brittany see themselves as perfectly matched co-creators. They are the Yin and Yang of the creative process with Stephen’s experience in filmmaking and Brittany’s background in entrepreneurship. They both brought credibility from their respective fields, including awards as Best Director, Best Picture, and Best Actor from Stephen, and a star-studded client list from Brittany.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Stephen and Brittany both believe creativity and perseverance has been critical to their success.
