Conversations with Somer Palmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Somer Palmer

Hi Somer, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2015 I stopped biting my nails and got really into nail polish and nail art.
Twi_Star was my favorite nail polish Youtuber, and I couldn’t learn enough about nail polish and nail art!

In 2018 I decided to take the leap and go to nail tech school, while keeping my Healthcare day job.

One I obtained my nail tech license I wasn’t sure how to use it. I was already on Instagram as @alwayspolishedlife, and started my own YouTube channel, Always Polished, but I wanted more.

Towards the end of 2018 I started volunteering manicures to residents at a local memory care facility and to human trafficking survivors through a separate non-profit.

My operations were shut down in 2020 due to the pandemic, but in 2024 I re-started, and gained a part time contract at another local memory care facility, again, still keeping my full time position, now as manager in Healthcare.

I look forward to every Saturday and getting to pamper the residents while listening to their many stories of their lives.

It’s “just” nail polish some might say, but oh what I’m able to accomplish with “just” that nail polish!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Obtaining my nail tech license was a difficult time.
I worked full time in a Neurosurgery office, part time in a pharmacy, and went to nail tech school 4 days a week all while planning my wedding!

The pandemic shutting down my operations was hard. I was getting a great momentum going, just to have it ripped away.
I am so thankful to be back doing nails for a local memory care!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in natural nail manicures and nail art.

I am proud of how maticulous I am, the one-on-one time I provide, and the feel of luxary with each of my services.

Many nail techs work in a salon, and are looking for QUANTITY. I am proud to be able to offer QUALITY.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The want to help people.
Being artistic doesn’t hurt either…
