Daily Inspiration: Meet Ileana Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ileana Martinez

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey as a content creator started my last year of nursing school. I was so inspire by the nurses and healthcare workers that had a social media presence. It was so new to see healthcare workers explore their creative side, and I wanted to be part of it as well. There were not many Latinx creator that were on healthcare worker niche. I wanted to inspire other people in my community, I wanted to be the presentation I was looking for. So I created a blog, to document my journey in nursing school as a first generation college student. I shared my experienced, my study tips and tricks and more. And that blog was the beginning of my content creation journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating content has no been a smooth road, it has been hard balancing a full time job with a passion project. Another obstacle its the stress of creating content as a nurse, you feel like are under a microscope a lot of the time. Hospital have very strict social media policies, and are known to try to follow them even when nurses record off the clock and maintain patient privacy. Its stressful to feel like you can lose your job for having a side hustle.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My content creation has evolved throughout the years, at the moment I have been focusing on vlogs style content. I love sharing with my audience the day to day of a emergency room nurse. I spend the last 3 years working as a travel ER nurse were I created a lot of vlogs about the experience of a travel nurse. I also love to create educational content, whether it is about nursing, travel nursing or educating the public in general. I am so extremely grateful that this passion project has lead me to work with some incredible brands. One of my proudest moment was working with the brand Figs on the Nurses Week campaign this year. I got the opportunity to be in 3 billboards around New York city to celebrate, and it all started with a silly little blog in nursing school.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That I am not only Dominican, I and also half Puertorican and Cuban.
