My name is Lancaster Cerro, I am 42 years old, and I am a retired special forces officer from Venezuela. For years, I dedicated my life to discipline, service, and teamwork values I now bring to a new mission: leading Fénix Junk Removal, a family business I founded with my wife Shady Rodriguez.

In 2015, we made the life changing decision to emigrate to the United States, seeking a better future for our family. Starting over in a new country was no easy task, but our determination and belief in second chances led us to establish this business in 2017. The name “Fenix” reflects our journey rising and transforming from challenges to create something meaningful.

Our business is built on strong principles: teamwork, excellence, and a genuine commitment to our clients. While I lead operations and oversee projects on-site, my wife, a journalist by profession, brings her organizational skills to manage our social media, emails, invoices, and paperwork. She also works alongside me on every project, making us a unified and dedicated team.

We’re not just business partners; we’re a couple balancing work and raising our two children a vibrant 8 year old and a curious 1 year old. Every day, we strive to show that discipline and unity can build a lasting legacy.

Fénix Junk Removal represents our story of perseverance and growth. We work tirelessly to ensure that every client, no matter the size of the job, receives exceptional service. This business is not just a source of income; it’s our way of contributing to the community that welcomed us with open arms.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been an easy journey. Emigrating to a new country means starting from scratch, without the resources or connections we once had in Venezuela. Adjusting to a new language, a different culture, and a competitive market was a significant challenge, all while building a stable life for our family.

One of the biggest difficulties was balancing our professional and family responsibilities. With two children, including a baby, and no close support network, we had to be creative with our time and resources. Financial uncertainty in the early years was also tough—every contract we secured was a crucial step toward keeping the business afloat.

For me, transitioning from a military career in the special forces to leading a business was a major shift. While many of the skills I developed, such as discipline, planning, and leadership, were invaluable, I had to learn entirely new aspects of running a business, from customer service to operational management.

Despite the challenges, these obstacles have made us stronger and taught us to appreciate every milestone. Each hurdle reminded us why we started: to provide a better future for our family and to build something that reflects our values.

Looking back, we feel proud of how far we’ve come. The hard work has been worth it, and we continue to move forward with the same determination that brought us here.
