Inspiring Conversations with Shelby Buck of Simply Closed Transaction Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Buck

Hi Shelby, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as a weekend receptionist at a REMAX office and slowly gained more hours and became a part time receptionist while I was in college. I graduated in 2016 (Go Knights!) and needed a full time job. An agent in the REMAX office was looking for an assistant and transaction coordinator and she hired me for their team. In 2019, I started working for a few other agents on the side. Towards the end of 2021, that agent decided she was going to semi-retire and couldn’t keep me on as a full time employee so I switched to another team in 2022-2023, which didn’t work out well but it was a great learning experience for me. Since about 2020, I was thinking about starting my own business as an independent transaction coordinator but was just scared to take the leap. During 2022-2023, I really contemplated how I was going to move forward, whether that was having my own business, going back to school, not working for a while, etc. and after a lot of talks with my husband, I finally decided it was time to be brave and start my business. I had a lot of support from my family and some other agents in the REMAX office and I honestly wish I started the business sooner. I’ve had huge success, multiple referrals and in my first year as an official business owner (2024), I’ve helped close nearly 100 transactions. I never thought I’d be this successful, let alone in my first year.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Personal issues, mental health struggles, getting married right before Covid hit, my husband traveling most of that year, getting pregnant and giving birth in the middle of a pandemic, my old employer springing on me that she couldn’t keep me on any longer to my 2022-2023 struggles with a team that was not honest with me and we weren’t a good fit to struggling with how I was going to further my career. I could go on and on!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Simply Closed Transaction Management?
I help real estate agents close their transactions smoothly by keeping them organized and up to date so they can spend more time with their clients, which is ultimately how they make their money. Real Estate contracts and the entire transaction has a lot of moving parts and I’m there to help my agents get through that easily so everyone can get to the closing table happy. My biggest asset is being highly organized so I can handle multiple transactions at once. I am most proud of my social media. I am an introvert and I’ve put myself out there on social media with reels and gotten out of my comfort zone by showing my face and being silly on the internet!

I am always taking on agents to help with their transactions. I’m kind and professional and I have a real estate license so unlike other transaction coordinators, I know the industry through and through. I’ve been doing this for nearly 10 years and I keep up with my continuing education. I’m not just a paper pusher and deadline reminder, I can ease the burden of more difficult aspects of real estate.

What were you like growing up?
I had a pretty tough childhood, I don’t remember much. I do know that I was very independent and free spirited. I wore a lot of mismatched clothes and had my own style and didn’t care what people thought of me. I’ve always been an introvert and I had to grow up fast. My parents got divorced when I was 10 and I had to move with my mom to a new area and started middle school (the worst time in a young girls life) in a totally new town, I didn’t have any friends, I didn’t know anyone, it was the worst! I slowly found myself again and was back to my unique, independent self. I tried all kinds of sports as a kid and nothing ever stuck. Once I moved to Orlando after my parents got divorced, I found horse back riding and never gave it up. It is my true love and passion and I now have owned my heart horse for 10 years.
