Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Hartage
Hi Kara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Many of the women in my family often struggled with money and I’d hoped to never follow in their footsteps, but a lack of education and guidance led me on the same path. My mother was listening to Dave Ramsey one day while I was riding in her car, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I haven’t followed his plan as thoroughly as I should for many reasons, but when I do I win. I want to help others win too. I do that by giving them all the resources and encouragement that I didn’t have back then in hopes that they can avoid making the same mistakes I’ve made. The more I see their victories, the more I’m motivated to keep going.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a slow start. People are afraid of accountability. Once you’ve been given the education, you’re responsible for what you do with it. Ignorance is bliss while building wealth takes work that some folk aren’t necessarily ready to commit to.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work? What sets you apart from others and what are you most proud of?
I’ve been a teacher and a nurse, and I use the skills I’ve obtained in both of those careers into coaching. I make complex things simple so that they are easy to understand and navigate through, and I aim to take folk from unhealthy habits to a stable and productive financial situation. I specialize in budget-building and debt reduction. I believe that once we’ve freed up our finances we can build wealth for ourselves, for our family, and for the betterment of our community. I’m most proud of being able to give peace of mind to those clients who I can see using what they’ve learned in one of our sessions or in a class. What sets me apart is my first-hand experience with overcoming debt, my certification in financial coaching, my passion for helping others achieve their goals, and my no nonsense approach. Time is money! It’s as simple as that.
