Rising Stars: Meet Tishell Smith of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tishell Smith

Hi Tishell, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey, I’m Tishell with Tishell Latrice Beauty and Health. I’ve always had a love for makeup and beauty! I grew up around my mother and aunties who were considered what we call baddies. I remember the little tricks I would see them do like heating up the eyeliner with the toaster to make it apply darker and more evenly. As well as seeing my mother use her plum colored lipstick as eyeshadow, rouge, and lipstick. These things intrigued me, so as I got older I would get magazines and copy the looks onto myself and friends. Slowly I started to learn more and more and became a makeup artist. I’ve done weddings, plays, birthday looks, Halloween looks and more. It brings me so much joy to enhance the beauty of others!
As for the health side of things I have always been the caretaker of my family. I never like seeing my loved ones sick so I would always do whatever I could to make them more comfortable. At the age of 15 I was involved in a hit and run after seeing the fireworks on the Fourth of July. I had to do physical therapy which involved going to the chiropractor as well as massages. This pushed me to want to become a massage therapist myself. I went to school and graduated with my certification of completion. Now I have my mobile massage business bringing my clients the spa experience right to their home.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the challenges along the way were building a steady clientele. Making my service for massage therapy mobile where I come to them really helped because it allowed my clients to be in their own environment to relax. So instead of driving home after a nice massage you get to go cozy up on the couch or even go straight to sleep since you are home. This also helped elderly clients who don’t like leaving their homes. As for beauty and makeup me making a platform on Instagram really helped because I created new looks according to the holidays or how I was feeling and created an online portfolio. Something where many people could view my content from all over. This helped me gain more makeup clients. Overall my journey wasn’t easy I had to build from the ground up. I’m still building and learning…

During the years I faced a lot of obstacles even thought about quitting. But I had good people in more corner my little sister Jacquelyn and my husband always encouraged me to push myself more and that helped me get out of my head. My sister Jacquelyn is why I created my makeup page, she really helped push me out my comfort zone. I love her and miss her, she passed away after her battle with ovarian cancer. So in her honor I continue to push and strive for better because she would expect nothing less! Balancing between being a wife a mother and a boss is an experience. The key is to divide your time! Time for your children time for your husband as well as time for yourself! Which is so important when it comes to creating and maintaining a healthy environmen

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Most people know me for my mobile makeup and massage businesses. I feel like what sets me apart from other makeup artists is I really take time to massage my clients face to wake up the skin before we apply makeup. My goal is to give them the most light full coverage application enhancing their beauty. I also love trying different types of makeup styles like SFX makeup as well as costume makeup.

When it comes to massage my goal is to bring the spa experience to you! Including an essential oil mister and soothing tones. I have been told I have healing hands and it brings me so much joy to help others and bring them relief wherever they were experiencing pain. Or even just to bring some self care relaxation to them after a long week. We all deserve to feel our best.

Currently I’ve been helping my clients learn more about what they put into their body’s and how true beauty comes from within. We are what we eat and consume so I help by bringing different tasty diy drink options to my pages to help your overall health and beauty.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
A quality that’s important to success is discipline. Even when you don’t have the motivation discipline will keep you in alignment. Gratitude is another, when you stay grateful it’s harder to fall into the place of comparing. Comparison is the thief of joy and all our journeys are different. Everything we learn along the way is a lesson, when you focus on your grass you can’t tell what someone else got going on.
