Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmanuel Campana
Hi Emmanuel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I studied art and graduated from a High school that focused on Arts called New Design High School in China Town district of lower manhattan.
There I involved myself in many avenues of expression but one of the main ones was fashion class. We learned to sow, we learned about clothing, business, textiles and more.
During one of those classes after watching a Chanel movie our teacher began to speak to us about being billboards. She said we are all walking billboards advertising a message 24/7 That never left my mind.
Later I would move on to selling merch that revolved around me because I grew a large fan base of millions of followers. I made clothing with different images of myself edited in different ways and with slogans. Around 2017 I made a big change and found Jesus Christ. I stopped everything I was doing and didn’t create for a whole year. In 2018 I realized I was too shy to share the gospel so I tried making Christian clothing with messaging but in cool designs. I noticed the lack of creativity and availability of Christian clothing brands. This went okay for me… but I knew I was on to something because my atheist friend wanted to wear Jesus shirts even though he didn’t even Beleive in Jesus! I would often get approached first as well and people would be drawn to the clothing.
I shut down everything again because of how hard it was and many complications and one day around late 2019 I remembered again “We’re all walking billboards”. This message played in my mind. I invested a few hundreds of dollars , learned how to build an actual website, revamped, changed everything around and opened up again by 2020.
Since then we have planted hundreds of trees around the world, spread the gospel as far as Africa and Korea through clothing. We also went through a name change “Sovereign Lord” and have been growing especially this year of 2024. Our slogan is “Be The Message” and it stands for everything I Beleive in as a Christian. Not just reading the word but living it out everyday and becoming walking billboards for the Gospel through fashion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No!
Money was always tight.
No support came in.
Sales super low.
Still not at the financial place where I can stop doing everything else and only focus on this but it’s been rewarding in every other way.
Keeping morals and standards above money and business can be hard. We use really good materials and sell for as low as possible. Greed isn’t our goal but spreading Jesus is and that needs to always be as affordable as possible without sacrificing quality. It’s hard to balance but I do my best.
One day we hope to have a physical brick and mortar store front.
