Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeleine Lewis
Hi Madeleine , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
At 5 years old I told my mother I wanted to start a business selling lemonade. My motivation was my mother as I watched her being an entrepreneur. She told me to focus on school and venture into other career such as being a lawyer, physician, or a teacher as being an entrepreneur is difficult. A year passed by and I kept being persistent and my mom finally gave in and told me at 7 years old i would start a business. She gave me an assignment to think of a business name and idea. I came up with a business idea to sell hair bows for little girls. I have beautiful hair so I decided to name my business Madeleines Mane. On my 7th birthday we launched my website. It was a success as the news spread on social media. I’m now 11 years old and since I launched I have added new products. My ultimate dream is to start my hair care line.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been somewhat of a smooth ride. However, being in school I can only focus on my business on the weekends.
We’ve been impressed with Madeleines Mane, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are known for selling affordable hair bows of various cartoon characters and also regular bows. We sell detangling hair brush and heatless curler.
What does success mean to you?
Success can defined in many ways. It’s achieving a sense of satisfaction or happiness from life often from personal growth or pursuing passions. It can personal achievement from reaching career goals, gaining recognition, or accomplishing milestones whether at a job or business. Success is also making a positive impact on others in the world through acts of kindness, social change, or innovation.
