Daily Inspiration: Meet Meg Kelsheimer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Kelsheimer

Meg, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Indiana. Before tattooing my passion growing up was veterinary medicine. I worked for clinics and my local animal shelter. Animals are still my passion so I do what I can in my free time! I even started a non-profit in my local home town where we assisted the city in TNVR and giving resources to the community to help stray cats. I was introduced to the tattoo industry after snagging a piercing apprenticeship and slowly working my way up to a fully trained artist. I have been a tattoo artist for 6 years now! My favorite style is Illustrative Dotwork and I specialized in small pet portraits! I love tattooing all things weird and cute!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been an easy journey. Animal care does not pay well and tattooing is a cut-throat industry! I am thankful I pushed through it because tattooing gives me the financial freedom and flexibility to help animals, therefore allowing me to be apart of both of my passions!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am most known for my Illustrative Dotwork and small pet portraits!

What were you like growing up?
As a child, I was quiet and shy, which is why I gravitated towards animals!
