Today we’d like to introduce you to Marilyn Mercado
Hi Marilyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Marilyn Mercado, and I am a proud Puerto Rican from Boston, Massachusetts. My journey in the modeling and beauty industry began at the tender age of 8, where I quickly immersed myself in numerous local pageants, earning several prestigious titles along the way. A significant milestone in my early career was competing in the Miss Massachusetts USA pageant, an experience that deepened my passion for fashion, the runway, television, and radio.
By the time I was 17, I had already ventured into the world of broadcasting as a Television Host at a local Massachusetts station. I also began utilizing my voiceover talents, lending my skills to various commercial projects. These early opportunities paved the way for my diverse and successful career in the entertainment industry. As a result of my work, I was honored with the Paoli Award as the Best Fashion Director in Orlando, which affirmed my dedication to the fashion world.
After spending several years working in the industry, I felt a strong calling to use my knowledge and experience to help others. I transitioned into coaching models and pageant contestants, sharing my expertise in runway techniques, presentation skills, and performance. The shift toward mentoring young talents has been incredibly fulfilling, as I’ve witnessed many individuals flourish under my guidance, achieving their dreams and aspirations in the process.
In addition to my coaching work, I founded and directed the Miss Teen Horizonte Pageant (MTH USA) more than 18 years ago, further contributing to the growth of young pageant contestants and fostering a platform for emerging talent.
Currently, I serve as the proud Director of JCAM Modeling Agency, a premier agency based in the heart of Orlando, Florida. Over the past 10 years, JCAM has grown to become one of the top 15 modeling agencies in the industry, serving both local and international markets. Our agency specializes in modeling, acting, pageant coaching, and film, offering a comprehensive suite of services for aspiring talent. Through my leadership at JCAM, I continue to inspire and mentor the next generation of models, actors, and entertainers, helping them unlock their full potential and thrive on the global stage.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes, the road has certainly had its share of challenges. The key to success in the entertainment and fashion industries, I believe, lies in adaptability and the ability to stay ahead of the curve. The industry is constantly evolving, and in order to thrive, one must be able to shift with its changes.

I am currently the founder of Miss Teen Horizonte USA (MTH USA) and the Director of JCAM Modeling Agency, both of which are based in the vibrant city of Orlando, Florida. Over the years, I’ve dedicated myself to the mission of empowering emerging talent and helping them realize their full potential in the competitive worlds of modeling, acting, and pageantry. It’s an incredible privilege to lead these two platforms and to witness firsthand the growth and success of the individuals who trust us with their careers.
What sets me apart in the industry is the relentless commitment I have to every model and talent who walks through the doors of my office. It’s not just about signing someone up and hoping for the best—it’s about going the extra mile to make their dreams a reality. I’m known for the deep passion I pour into my work, the unwavering belief I have in each of my clients, and the lengths I’ll go to in order to make sure they are supported at every stage of their journey.

What matters most to me is ensuring that my models truly understand the responsibilities that come with working in the entertainment and fashion industry. While it’s easy to be captivated by the glamour and excitement that modeling offers, it’s essential to acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and professionalism required to succeed.
