Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Ali
Hi Jesse, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started out as a terrible wig and a Walmart toy trident at a Halloween party. I eventually brought Aquaman to cons around Orlando, Fl. I began to attend more events and cons and over the years have upgraded my cosplays. I started cosplaying professionally almost ten years ago with years of paid gigs, events, birthdays and guesting at smaller cons. The community and friends are what kept me here and passionate about this particular hobby. I was getting noticed more as a Jason momoa cosplayer and have done cosplays from Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo, See, different renditions of Aquaman, and now as Lobo. I have also been offered a role as Cassian in a few different events as well.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think in any hobby or career, there will always be struggles. I went through a lot in my personal life and have had to step back from cosplaying multiple times until I was ready to get back in. But once again, the community is very positive for the most part and always had a way of pulling me back when things seemed at its lowest.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have found I have a niche for more over the top, brooding, menacing, bearded cosplays such as Kratos, Khal drogo, or any Vikings cosplay. I am not a fan of wearing suits or covering up my face. So I decided to capitalize what I’m most known for which is that dark, anti-villain look. I am extremely proud of the discipline I put my body through to get into the shape that these characters I choose are in. Cosplaying will keep you in the gym, that’s for sure.

Have fun with what you do. If it makes you feel like you’re working, you’re either doing it wrong or need to find a different profession. Just have fun with it.
