Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessica Claire Castillo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Claire Castillo

Hi Jessica Claire, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ever since I was a child I always loved dressing up. My mom loves telling stories of me putting on princess ball gowns just to go with her to the supermarket. While my friends were watching cartoons, I was watching project runway and shows like The Nanny. My family would drive around 5th Ave and I would stare at the window displays hoping one day I could do something fashion related.

While I wasn’t able to go to school for fashion, social media has allowed me to share my love for fashion with others. Not only that but I am able to share the joy of traveling and experiencing new places with people who have the same interests. Platforms such as instagram and tik tok have made it possible for people of any background to share their creativity. Growing up I didn’t see much Filipino representation in mainstream media. Thanks to smaller platforms, I am able to see creators from all different backgrounds. I think that’s what’s beautiful about creating content no matter how many followers you have, you can impact one person who feels like you represent them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely not been smooth, that being said it has been a fun journey. I have been posting about my love for fashion and travel for a few years now. I even tried my hand at YouTube at one point. Creating videos and taking photos has always been a creative outlet for me that allowed me to remember all of life’s memories. I wasn’t until recently that I have been able to collaborate and make content for brands that I love. If anyone else is a small creator like me, don’t be discouraged when things seem like they aren’t working out because I have been doing this for so long!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
When I’m not traveling or creating content, I spend my time working as a pediatric ICU nurse. I actually started in adult ICU in 2020 during the peak of the pandemic. I am most proud of the impact I have been able to make in the lives of others during such a difficult time.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is not taking our time on Earth for granted. Nursing has opened my eyes to how fragile life can be and I want to spend it loving others and creating joyful moments everywhere I go.
