Meet Summer Smith of Plant City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Smith

Hi Summer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey really began with my 11-year stint working at a doctor’s office ended. During that time, I also worked part-time cleaning, but it wasn’t until after COVID hit that I decided to take the leap and pursue my passion full-time in being a small business owner. I started cleaning with my mom when I was just 8 years old, and she taught me the importance of the small details—how they can make a huge difference. After everything changed with the pandemic, I felt like it was now or never, so I took my shot and went for it.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh, absolutely not—it’s definitely been a bumpy road. Since starting my business in 2022, I’ve navigated the final stages of COVID, hurricanes, inflation, economic challenges with clients, and staff turnover. Working in people’s homes and businesses means I have to be able to trust my team, as we’re handling their most valuable possessions and personal spaces. I take great pride in prioritizing my clients and ensuring my staff feel supported, but doing both can be incredibly tough with all these hurdles. Despite it all, though, we’ve made it through!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in the small details of cleaning, organizing, and adding those finishing touches that make a space feel truly cared for. What I’m most proud of is being a single mom running a successful business. My kids have seen me build this from the ground up, and I’m not only creating something to leave them, but I’ve also inspired my teenage son to start his own business at just 15. My daughter Taylor also has since started her own family and has blessed me with my first grandson , Branch Allen. That’s what I’m most proud of—knowing my children are proud of me. What sets me apart from others is my attention to the small details. I leave thoughtful touches that my clients look forward to after each clean, making each experience feel personal and special.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was going to work with my mom. I loved cleaning houses alongside her, and she would show me how to vacuum carpets just right, leaving perfect lines. My dad had a produce stand where he sold his famous peanuts, and I was always so proud watching people buy what he’d made. I even helped run the stand! We’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit in our family.
