Conversations with Daud Waziri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daud Waziri

Hi Daud, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Yes! I first wanted to become a model when I was around 16. My Aunt Treasy would always tell me I’m a model and I started hearing it a lot more after that. One of my first posts on IG is me experimenting with this whole modeling thing. I didn’t actually get back to my passion until I established my career in accounting here in Orlando. But after feeling like I was missing something, I finally took a step and invested in a quick 7 month course at John Casablancas’ Modeling and Acting Program. I learned so much and it was really good to be in a class setting with other professionals who wanted to go far in the industry. I’ve always been shooting, but it wasn’t until 2023 until I really became serious about my image, craft, and work. I think it was a culmination of my quarter life crisis followed with the activation of trauma that really opened my eyes to what I’m missing out on. From there, I’ve been pushing quality content on IG, balancing my accounting career, and at the moment I’m currently pushing myself to network and be on the map along with my fellow Orlando models.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it has not been a smooth road at all. I think balancing out making money with my accounting career and transitioning to making money from modeling has been my number one challenge. I need to find more paid work for my craft. Admittedly I’ve been getting serious about applications on Allcasting and Backstage recently. That’s where I’m finding some paid gigs, but most of my paid gigs so far have come from Instagram, so I think there’s some doubt in my subconscious regarding national gigs. That being said, I know I can do it. I’m currently replacing all those worries and doubts with work and self belief. So while I’m applying for gigs, I’m also taking time in the mirror and in front of the camera to create the art and promotions I want to see.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a commercial and fashion model. Most of my work can be found on Instagram. I can model for products, services, designers, music artists, and anything else that may come to mind. I’ve been on a couple magazine covers and I don’t plan on stopping there. I’m most proud of my runway performance for The Bomb Fashion Show where I walked in front of many well known celebrities (you can see a list of them here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_q2_0uvqDd/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==). I walked for Links by Gwen, a specialized designer who dressed me in the most unique gold, blue, and silver chain-link top. What sets me apart from others is my collaborative efforts within events. I provide a means to cohesiveness and synergy through my positive attitude and mindset. What sets me apart when I’m just posting by myself is my ever evolving style.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Please reach out to me to collaborate. I am working on my own craft as well, but I’ve heard, “if you want to go quickly, go alone, but if you want to go far, go with others.” So as of now I am looking to grow my network with other creatives who have a common goal of producing art and events that can attract like minded people and fashion forward consumers.
