Inspiring Conversations with Jamie Martinez of JAC Designz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Martinez

Jamie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It started a few months after my mom passed away in 2022. She loved crafts, and since I was never a crafty person, I looked at what else I could do to honor her. I started making shirts and then progressed to making sublimated cups. It was a way for me to start my grieving process and I knew that she was with me during the process. I make sure I have things I know she would love and add items to my website and social media pages.
We have grown a little over the last couple of years. We do have a few contacts that we make their own shirts for functions. We made business shirts and youth sports team shirts.
We try to make our prices affordable to everyone. I think it is important for everyone to have the option to have a cup or shirt designed how they want it. We would hope to have a storefront one day but we are taking our time getting our name out there.
We are trying to add more things we can do. We recently just purchased an engraver so in hope we can start offering that option in February.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We had struggles getting people to go to our website and purchase items. We need more traffic to the functions we go to as well as to the different platforms we are using. We are not letting this set us back we keep moving forward.

We’ve been impressed with JAC Designz, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize in DTF prints for our shirts. We use Gildan brand shirts for our short and long sleeves and as well for crewnecks and hoodies. If customers are looking for other brands we do accommodate. Price may change but we try to keep the price reasonable.

We do sublimation cups as well. We do them on 16 oz Libby glass cups, 20 oz Tumblers and now we just started adding 40 oz ones as well. We got pillows and can coolers as well.

We also have played around with the idea of party favors. Still in the works but we see if up coming soon.

We are local and we can mostly get things done within 48 hour period. If there is a bulk order we try to get them done within a week time frame.

Most proud of being able to share what my mom loved to do. Being able to help others get things they want.

We offer affordable items and we try to make sure we can get what the customer wants. There has not been a project that we had to turn down. We find the resources and make their ideas come true. If the don’t see what they like they can always send us a message. I also make sure that if it is something custom I show them proof before the products are delivered.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has been good and bad. Getting returning customers is great luck since they can spread the word about our business. Bad luck would be having one of our machines down and we need to fix it.
