Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Candelaria
Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The idea of starting a photography business first sparked in 2020 when I bought my own camera and started shooting for fun. I spent that year learning everything I could—how to use a camera, how to edit, and what made a great image stand out. That same year, my first official client booked me for a brand shoot, and from there, I continued getting booked for things like portraits, product, branding, and even couples.
It wasn’t until 2022 that I felt drawn toward wedding photography. I was really intrigued by how the industry was evolving—photographers were pushing creative boundaries, blending documentary and editorial styles. As a creative, I was so captivated by the idea that I knew I wanted to be part of that. In 2023, I made the full transition to weddings, and since then, I’ve been dedicated to capturing love stories in a way that feels timeless, real, and artistic. My goal is to go beyond traditional wedding photography, creating images that feel like art and truly reflect the essence of each couple’s day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Running your own business is never a completely smooth road. I truly believe challenges are necessary for growth—they push us to adapt, find solutions, and become better business owners.
One of my biggest challenges was stepping into the wedding industry and building trust with couples in such a highly competitive space. Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime moments, and I knew I had to prove not only my skill but also my ability to create an incredible client experience. Learning how to market myself, price my services confidently, and handle the unpredictability of wedding days took time and persistence.
Another challenge has been balancing the creative and business sides of photography. While I love capturing raw, emotional moments, I’ve also had to learn the behind-the-scenes aspects—contracts, workflows, finances, and staying consistent with client communication.
Despite the challenges, each hurdle has made me a stronger photographer and business owner. I’ve grown so much, and I know there’s always more to learn as I continue refining my craft and serving my couples in the best way possible.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a wedding photographer, and my work is all about capturing real, unfiltered moments in a way that feels effortless and timeless. I specialize in documentary-style photography with an editorial twist—giving my couples a mix of emotional candids and intentional, artful portraits that feel natural yet elevated.
What I’m most proud of is the experience I create for my couples. I don’t just show up with a camera—I guide them through the entire process, making sure they feel comfortable, confident, and truly present on their wedding day. My goal is to not only document their love but to do it in a way that brings back every emotion when they look at their photos years down the line.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend in like a friend while still capturing moments with precision and purpose. I bring high energy when it’s needed—hype woman on the dance floor, fixing a veil before the ceremony—but I also know when to step back and let things unfold naturally. My editing style also stays true to the day itself. I want my couples to remember their wedding exactly as it was, with colors and tones that feel authentic and timeless.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love seeing how Orlando has evolved creatively over the years! When I first started in this industry, I felt like I had to look to places like Miami and Tampa for inspiration, but now I’m seeing so much growth right here. New creative spaces, film labs, and coffee shops designed for artists and entrepreneurs are popping up, and it’s exciting to be part of a community that’s embracing creativity more and more. I’d love to continue to see even more spaces and opportunities dedicated to local creatives. It’s definitely heading in the right direction, and I’m excited to see how it continues to grow!
