Daily Inspiration: Meet Malika Naomi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Malika Naomi

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Malika’s Signature during my senior year of high school at that time it was a few months before I started my college journey. Doing graphics was a fun hobby that turned into something meaningful, I’ve always been creative and had a love for art & technology so I decided to pursue it and take the craft seriously. Over the course of time I’ve worked with many small businesses & creatives in Orlando, Tallahassee and outside of Florida. Without of the support of friends, family & long-term clients Malika’s Signature wouldn’t be where it is today, as I continue to grow personally and professionally I hope that Malika’s Signature reaches new levels of success and longevity for years to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business isn’t easy, for me my journey has had its struggles especially being a month in the pandemic in 2020. While the world was on shut down, I was up creating and finding projects to do to express myself creatively and make a name for myself. During that time it wasn’t easy not just as a new business but overall because finding clients wasn’t easy which put a strain on me financially as well. A lot of planning and investing went into this new business venture that I truly had a passion for but I kept creating and perfecting my craft overtime by learning tips and tricks to sharpen my skills in tools that myself and my graphic design peers used. And in the long haul would pay off and help me reach my goals and fullest potential and expand my business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in Graphic Design creating digital visuals for businesses and creatives by elevating their presence on social media platforms to communicate their unique stories. I was known for making unique designs such as collages, logos, flyers, etc. I’m most proud of my skills and my work and how far I’ve come within the last four (almost five) years. I look forward to pushing and practicing new or old things that could help me elevate even more in my business. What sets me apart from other designers in the business would be my ability to create and my passion for graphic design it ties into my passion for technology which is what I’m going to school for and I believe with passion and creativity that it will open doors for me and make me stand out.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be when I first came to Florida, growing up I was born in New York and went to live with my grandparents in Barbados. Growing up in Barbados exposed me to a lot of my culture and my roots which made me the person that I am today and played a major role in my creative abilities for as long as I can remember. Back then, at that time when I first started drawing and being able to make things I knew that I was creative but didn’t know the potential that could come with this skill, since then I have excelled creatively and through trial and error it definitely put me on the path of graphic design which isn’t surprised to me and those close to me. Since living in Florida and going to school here I’ve learned so much more and living here made me want more out of life and inspired me in many aspects.
