Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharday Harrell.

Sharday Harrell

Hi Sharday, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I would say women’s advocacy and fostering a sense of community have always been deeply ingrained in who I am. Reflecting now on my journey, I realize that the seeds of this passion were sown at an earlier age and rooted in the influence of strong women who shaped my upbringing. Chief among them is my mother, a powerful evangelist whose faith and servant leadership that left a mark on my life. From my earliest memories, I watched her not only minister within the church but also breathe life into the community as an educator and performing arts visionary. Whether organizing stage productions or leading Black History parades, she poured her heart into serving others. I felt these moments weren’t just events, they were movements of unity and empowerment, and I stood in awe, learning the power of purpose in action.
Her example taught me that leadership isn’t confined to titles, but is born from a genuine desire to uplift those around you. It’s that very same legacy of faith, resilience, and creativity that inspired me to step into my own calling: to build a foundation where women could find the tools, encouragement, and community they need to thrive. With aSistHER Inc., I’ve been able to operate in my gifts birthing something much larger than myself. Because I believe that when we uplift women, we elevate entire communities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey of building a foundation like aSistHER Inc. has been anything but smooth. While the vision and mission to produce meaningful change inspire hope and purpose, the reality of bringing that vision to life is layered with challenges that many may not initially anticipate. At its core, creating a lasting impact on the community requires more than passion; it demands resources, strategy, and resilience. Even now, three years in, we’re still very much in what I’d call a grassroots phase. Without partners like grant writers or substantial access to grants, it’s been a challenge to scale our efforts to match the growing needs around us. At times, it feels like a delicate dance between dreaming big and facing the constraints of practicality.
Yet, these struggles have also reinforced my belief in the importance of community. They’ve taught me to be creative, persistent, and to lean on the very values aSistHER stands for: resilience, collaboration, and empowerment. While the road hasn’t been easy, every challenge serves as a reminder of why I started.

As you know, we’re big fans of aSistHER Inc. . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
aSistHER Inc. is more than just a foundation, it’s a movement dedicated to empowering women and single mothers to thrive in every aspect of their lives. We specialize in providing practical solutions and support through programs that address mental health, financial wellness, career advancement, and homeownership. From our aSistHERhood Mental Health Program, which offers counseling and therapy sessions, to our Financial Wellness Program, which helps families build financial literacy, we aim to meet women where they are and provide tools for success. We are best known for creating opportunities that lead to real transformation. Whether it’s empowering women through our NEXT LEVEL Coaching Program, helping single mothers achieve their dreams of homeownership or fostering restoration through our ReviveHER!, where we provide a safe, supportive space for women to realize their potential. What sets aSistHER Inc. apart is our commitment to not only assist women, but to build a lasting community of sisterhood. We understand that transformation goes beyond resources, it’s about creating a space where women feel seen, supported, and celebrated. Our approach is simple, addressing emotional, financial, and spiritual growth in a way that meets the unique needs of every woman we serve.
Additionally, our foundation operates with a servant heart. Every program we offer is intentionally designed to empower women to rise above their circumstances, whether through mental health support, career coaching, or financial guidance. Our ability to provide tangible solutions with compassion and faith-driven values is what makes us unique. Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how aSistHER Inc. transforms vulnerability into victory. We’ve created a platform where women can reclaim their power, redefine their futures, and connect with a community that uplifts and inspires. Whether it’s seeing a single mother achieve the dream of owning her first home or witnessing the restoration and confidence women find at our Revive HER!, these victories remind us why we do what we do.
Another point of pride is our Financial Wellness Program, which equips families with the tools for financial freedom, we’re making an impact that extends far beyond individual lives, it’s reshaping communities.
At aSistHER Inc., we’re committed to breaking barriers and building bridges, especially in education. That’s why we’re launching the LeadHERs Birth READERS program, an initiative designed to bridge the literacy gap in our communities by providing schools with books, reading programs, school supplies, book fairs, and educational assistance. We believe that literacy is a catalyst for empowerment, and by equipping young minds with the tools to read, learn, and grow, we are planting the seeds for future leaders.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?

The quality I believe is most important to my success is a strong combination of passion and purpose. While you can function with one, however for me true fulfillment comes when both are married together. Passion is the drive that keeps me moving forward, even when the journey is tough, and purpose provides the clarity and gratitude that reminds me why I started in the first place.

For me, this work isn’t about recognition or being in the spotlight, it’s about making a real difference in the lives of others. Seeing women overcome challenges, regain their confidence, and accomplish goals they once thought were out of reach is the ultimate reward. Passion sparks the energy, but purpose ensures that every effort makes an impact.
