Today we’d like to introduce you to Trinity The Tuck
Hi Trinity, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started drag in Birmingham, Alabama at the fresh age of 18. It was a date and I started on a Thursday for a talent competition called The Baddest Bitch. It took me three time before I actually won and then I kept winning. After about a year of that the club wouldn’t let me enter anymore cause I always won and then they put me on cast. I started doing pageants because back in the early 2000’s before Drag Race you had to do them to get national recognition if you wanted to book outside your state. I moved to Florida in 2011 and worked the circuit here. I Won a few local pageants including Miss Parliament House and Miss Pulse. I started touring with a band Called Erasure. I eventually won a National pageant called Entertainer Of The Year and the following year I got cast on the 9th season of Rupauls Drag Race representing Orlando Florida.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Every venture you do long enough will definitely have its challenges. That’s why I moved out of Alabama to Florida. There were no more opportunities in Alabama. When I moved to Florida I quickly realized that there was a huge saturation of drag, good drag. I had to stay elevating myself in order to get more gigs. Things didn’t just happen even with me working hard for opportunities. I remember moving to Florida with no job, no savings and I didn’t know very many people either. It took months to get a day job and then even longer to gain enough reputation here to get steady work.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a professional drag artist. I have been doing drag for 22 years. I think I’m most known for being on rupauls drag race but in the drag circuit I am also known for as being an accomplished pageant queen. I’m most proud of making something of myself. As a kid I really had no idea what direction my life would take me. I grew up in a small town and I was lower middle class. There was no way my parents could put me through college so I definitely was at a loss for what would come next until I found drag. I think the fact that I’m so well rounded in drag makes be stand out. I have 11 challenge wins under my belt from drag race in many different types of challenges. The most wins from anyone ever from the show.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I think that it takes a villages. Over the years I’ve had many amazing friends who have supported me through all my endeavors. My drag family has really been a solid ground for me going through the good but most importantly when going through the bad. One of my mentors is my drag father , Bob Taylor, a Florida native. He really is like my actual father. He helped love me from Alabama to Florida. Helped me with my bills til I got a job and helped me navigate the drag world. My drag mother , Jordan Kennedy, from New Jersey who was born and raised in Florida, was my inspiration for much of my early drag. She was a very creative club kid/ pageant queen.
