Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Greene
Hi Valerie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We’ve all heard how life can change in an instant. For me, my life was forever changed at age 31 when I woke up in a hospital bed paralyzed and unable to speak. I suffered a massive stroke. Doctors said I may never walk or talk again and most of my hearing was lost, but I was lucky to be alive. A blood clot had occluded the main artery in my neck. Surely, this can’t be right, I was healthy, athletic, and at the top of my game.
I went from owning a successful financial planning firm in Winter Park, FL, to relying on someone to cut my food and drive me to rehab. It was hard and humbling.
Starting over, I had to relearn nearly everything from simple math to pronouncing words, and learning to walk – but I clung to my inner strength and faith to persevere always believing there was a bigger plan for my life.
Growing up, I was taught that God has a plan and purpose for each of us, so I knew in my heart that this was not the end of my story but the beginning of a journey. Determined to overcome, I kept my sights set on the goal of being fully restored. In my quest to find the way, I discovered alternative therapies and technologies from around the world to help accelerate my body’s healing.
Today, by the grace of God I am not just a survivor but an overcomer and victor. My experience became a gift to empower and inspire others around the world. Who would have ever predicted I would become a national speaker for the American Heart Association, a multi-published author, and walk in the Walt Disney World Marathon after being told I may never walk or talk again! It all goes to prove – Never allow anyone to predict your outcome!! And Never Give Up!!
After forming a 501(c)(3) organization, I started a support group (The Bcenter – Hive of Hope) with a vision to build a retreat/wellness center in Central Florida where survivors can experience a respite surrounded by nature’s healing environment and animals.
As the founder & CEO of Stroke Solutions, LLC we offer private consulting and coaching services to empower and guide survivors and families. We aim to instill hope while providing direction and solutions discovered throughout my healing journey – a priceless investment that can save years of trial and error.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To look at me now it’s hard to imagine the challenges I’ve been through. I’ll never sugarcoat my experience. It was tough and some days I wanted to give up. But once you see a glimmer of hope and light at the end of the tunnel, you don’t give up.
During times of despair and discouragement, I leaned on the support of others and was reminded that God was in control and would see me through. He did, and still does!
We all go through challenges and battles in this life. It’s not what happens to us, it’s what we do about it that matters.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
As a native Floridian, I love our lakes and beautiful waterways. It’s also nice being so close to many different activities, including the beaches on both coasts.
I least like the humidity because it can make my hair blow up.
