Today we’d like to introduce you to Tailiu Jones
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started nails back in 2018, I was a freshman in highschool! I started it because I could never get what I wanted done for nails, at a local shop, so I started doing them myself! I dropped out of high school my junior year, and proceeded to go to Nail school, where I graduated in three months, and then started doing nails right away! I’ve been doing nails ever since! I’ve worked in a RV, a house a shed, and after seven years, I’ve had enough money to buy my own house with the in-laws suite! So now I do nails from home with my own business! Covid hit and was hard, but I pulled through!! For about six months I didn’t have anybody and then once mask were allowed people started coming back!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not! I started off in Polk County, where I had a huge clientele, but then I had to move to Port Charlotte and start all over! I had to move back in with my mom and work from her house after a few years I had enough to buy my own house and now I’m here! It was hard to restart my business and get new clients, but now everywhere I go people point me out as the nail lady lol
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in acrylic nails, but more specifically hand, drawn, characters, designs, hand, sculpted, 3-D, charms, and all types of crazy things! I have painted everything from anime, care, Bears, to blood and guts! I’ve included snake skin, tarantula fangs, small bones, and all types of crazy things in Nail sets! I rarely ever practice. I just start doing a nail and let it flow! I’ve always been an art nerd, my last year of high school. I had five art classes out of seven of my classes.
How do you think about happiness?
Making other people happy! So many people come to me because they have dream nails that they want, and they have never gotten them, the shops normally don’t know how to do crazy things, so when I get to sit down with a person and get to know them and do what they want, it’s amazing to see them so happy! I’ve had clients hug me, cry for their nails, and call everybody in their family to show them !! It’s an amazing feeling to help somebody else feel good about themselves!
