Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Brown Kennedy
Hi Paula, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My sister was planning a trip to Walt Disney World with her kids and grandkids. She found that most of the information was geared to parents in their 30s with kids under ten. She had a lot of questions, and since I live in the area we exchanged a lot of emails and information. I realized that if my sister found my information valuable that others might as well, and Disney Over 50 was born.
I live close to the theme parks, and that’s helped quite a bit with my site. In addition to Walt Disney World, I also have Annual Passes to Universal Orlando Resort and the SeaWorld Parks. Although “Disney” is in the name, I like to share information on many of the Central Florida attractions.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part it’s been smooth. The main struggle was in 2020 when the local parks were all shut down because of Covid. People were hungry for information, but there wasn’t much to give. But we became more of a community at that time. Lots of questions, and lots of suggestions on what people wanted to see, especially on Facebook.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
DisneyOver50.com is my blog. I’m also very active with the brand on Facebook and Instagram. While my main focus is providing accurate information for people who are 50 and older, I try hard to add things that all ages will find helpful.
One of the things that I’m proudest of is a short video that I added to Facebook. It featured Kevin from the movie “Up”, and for some reason that video ended up with over 8.6 million views!
What I think sets me apart from many of the other sites is credibility. I don’t add sensational headlines just to get clicks. If I can’t prove something with a reputable source, I’ll state that it’s a rumor. I also have a section on Disney Over 50 called “Ten Second Tips” and I think that they set me apart. These are meant to be read quickly and have no filler. I’ve been told by countless people how much they appreciate these tips because they get right to the point!
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The main support that I need is for people to check out my website! They can also follow my Facebook and Instagram pages. The Facebook page especially has experienced tremendous growth in the past year, which is really exciting.
