Hi Kristy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My love of art began as a child, following in the footsteps of my mother who was born with a creative soul. She always encouraged our desire to pursue all things art. Over the years, my love for art has grown and evolved in many ways, through sketching, illustration, 3D rendering, fashion design and interior design. My path in life led me to find my calling as an Interior Designer when my aspiration and degree in fashion design morphed after being a mother. Making functional and beautiful spaces for families to live and love in became my creative outlet, and my new passion. Interior design is more than a thoughtful, well put together color palette. The driving idea behind Kristy Ellen Interiors is…“Your Story. Your Home. Thoughtfully Designed.” This is the starting point for every partnership journey we set out on with our cleints.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh, just reading this question out loud made me laugh! You’d be hard pressed to find any entreprenuer in any industry who would say the road has been completely smooth. Running a business-especially in interior design-is a wild, wonderful ride of lessons, surprises, and, yes, plenty of challenges.
Imposter syndrome? Oh, absolutely. Self-doubt? A frequent visitor in the beginning. The general fear of the unknown? Let’s just say I’ve had more than a few 2am wake-up calls staring at the ceiling wondering if the electrician remembered to flip the breaker back on-because nothing says “bad day” like a frantic client discovering their freezer full of expensive meats has become a science experiment overnight.
Then there are the mini struggles, the ones only designers truly understand-like the sheer emotional roller coaster of waiting on a custom sofa that’s already 3 months late, or the delicate dance of managing the relationship between tradesmen and clients.
