Conversations with Jackie Se

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Se

Hi Jackie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up in Florida, visits to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando helped to develop my passion for theme parks and immersive, themed environments. My love for these parks, and the movies, music and characters, led me to start a blog, probably 10 years ago now, where I would share trip reports of my visits to Disney World, Universal, but more than that, renaissance festivals, special Florida events and historic places, and all the fun and interesting places that I was excited to share about. In 2017, I decided to move my blog to video format and uploaded my first YouTube video! I saw what I was doing as my own little do-it-yourself travel show, in the style of some of my favorites like Samantha Brown and Rick Steves, except without a production crew, and mostly being a tourist in my own state of Florida. I also started to include my travels, road trips, and visits to interesting places all over the USA, and to other countries. In the years I’ve been doing this, I’ve continued to share my travels and adventures, and still see it as my own little one-woman, do-it-yourself, travel and theme park show! I create and produce every episode.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I always go back to my “why” – I started this to share my enthusiasms, with fellow enthusiasts, so when things get hard, I just remember how happy I am to be able to do what I love and do it in my own way. The world has changed since the pandemic, and it has sometimes gotten more difficult to be a person sharing what they love, as often times negativity is what “sells,” and sometimes that negativity can make it tough. But try to remember, this isn’t about what “sells,” it isn’t about chasing algorithms or trying to fit to norms or chase trends. With the experience I have of doing this for now nearly 8 years, I’ve learned that trends come and go, clickbait may sell, but you get what you pay for, and what lasts, and what counts, is what’s real. So I continue to march to the beat of my own drum, do what I feel is right, and not allow myself to be lured by the trends or passing fads of the moment.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In this day and age, it’s hard to know what to call oneself when you do what I do. In fact, this wasn’t even a path I would have known existed… until it existed! I create my own theme park and travel show and share it on my YouTube channel, Super Enthused. The channel name is indicative of its purpose – an enthusiasts, well, enthusiasms! I share my own personal experiences visiting the best and most interesting theme parks, attractions and travel destinations. Based in Orlando, Florida, I love to share the latest from Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort parks, and the upcoming Epic Universe park, plus detailed tours and tips from all the wonderful resorts, hotels, restaurants and cool attractions here in Florida. But so much more than that, I love to travel. Last year we did a cross-country road trip, with the central event being the great solar eclipse in Texas, and I vlogged the entire trip in an exciting series. I believe what sets me apart is my love for all things magical, whimsical, and special, looking for the hidden details, the moments that can often be overlooked, but are so powerful, and my special way of bringing viewers along with me, like a friend. I keep my videos authentic, sharing my real life experiences as they are, the good and bad, the real and the magic, my favorites and least favorites, but always with an open mind and willingness to try new things. I also try to approach things thoughtfully and respectfully, share information that will be helpful and bring the viewer in with me. My enthusiastic approach to exploring, sharing, and making the most of all the things we do, are all part of the magic that makes Super Enthused special!

What do you like and dislike about the city?
As someone who was born and raised in Florida, it’s just part of my blood, part of my DNA, part of my soul! So the Florida sunshine, warm air, year round humidity, all of that gives me life! Now, I was born and raised in south Florida, which is different enough from here in Orlando, that I can appreciate the subtle changes here. Even though you will hear a lot of people complain about the traffic in Orlando, anyone who has been to Miami can tell you, it’s a breeze here by comparison! I get all the benefits of Florida living here, except I get to be somewhere less crowded and hectic than Miami, but don’t get me wrong, I still visit all the time as my parents and family are there, and it will always be my hometown, but here in Orlando, it’s just a chiller pace of life. But the biggest benefit for me, as a huge theme park fan and someone who shares all the latest from the theme park capital of the world, is living right next to Disney World and Universal, and soon-to-be Epic Universe! How amazing that I can visit these incredible, otherworldly places on a regular basis, and learn enough to share with others, so that they can make the most of their trips, or feel like they’re there with me at any time! Really, deep in my heart, I love the sunshine and ocean, blue skies and warm air!
