Check Out Kathryn Costello’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryn Costello.

Kathryn Costello

Hi Kathryn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My parents bought me a point and shoot camera when I was 13, before we went on vacation in the Keys. While we were there, I was taking pictures. My father made one of the pictures I took the background on his computer and his co-worker said it looked professional (He was a professional Photographer). I started doing my research and decided I wanted to save up for a Canon DSLR camera, on my 16th birthday my parents surprised me with the camera I had been saving for. and the rest as they say is history. I’ve been taking pictures in a “professional” manner for 19 years. Thankfully, how I’ve gotten where I am today is from the support of my amazing Friends, and people who trust me to capture their memories. and they recommend me out. I’m so grateful for my support system.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
it definitely hasn’t been easy. when I was 19 I got a job in a studio, and that studio had set prices that were wild, Having people tell me my work wasn’t worth the price I was asking made me want to stop taking pictures. Once I got out of the situation and found my client base things started to even out. but the Photography market is oversaturated especially in this area, Thankfully, I’ve found a wonderful group of photographers who have become a huge support and help when I need them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Photographer, I specialize in Maternity photography, but I do it all. I’ve not yet gone Viral, but I’ve made the cover of a few magazines, I’d say I’m just really proud of the growth and how much better my work has gotten in the last few years. I’m not sure I can narrow down what would set me apart from others, but I do say to my clients “if you don’t think I’m going to get hurt at least once during our session, I’m not doing my job” – I will do almost anything to get the right angle.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
