Hidden Gems: Meet Sara Dunn of Sara Does SEO

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Dunn

Hi Sara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into SEO started in a completely different world—web design. I originally ran a small web design agency, creating beautiful, functional websites for service-based businesses. But over time, I noticed a frustrating pattern: even the most well-designed websites weren’t automatically bringing in traffic or generating leads.

That’s when I became obsessed with figuring out how to get websites found. I started diving deep into SEO, testing strategies, and learning everything I could about how search engines work. The more I learned, the more I realized that SEO was the missing piece for so many businesses. I started integrating SEO into my website packages and seeing such better results for my clients. I was hooked.

Eventually, I decided to niche down and focus exclusively on SEO for wedding professionals—planners, photographers, florists, venues, and more. The wedding industry is incredibly competitive, and most wedding pros don’t have time to master the technical side of SEO. That’s where my business, Sara Does SEO, comes in.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest struggles after several years in business was finding the right niche. When I first started in web design, I was trying to serve too many different types of businesses, which made it hard to stand out. Once I niched down to SEO for wedding professionals, everything clicked—but even then, I had to work hard to educate my audience on why SEO matters and how it can help them book more clients.

Another challenge has been staying focused and resisting the temptation to constantly add new services. In the online business world, there’s always pressure to expand, but I’ve learned that refining what works is more powerful than chasing the next big thing. Staying in my lane and continuously improving my SEO strategies has led to better results for my clients and more sustainable growth for my business.

Finally, scaling while maintaining flexibility has been a learning curve. I run a remote team of 11 incredible women, several of whom left the corporate world for more freedom. Balancing the growth of the business while ensuring my team has fulfilling, flexible work has been a priority—and one that I’m constantly optimizing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sara Does SEO?
At Sara Does SEO, we help wedding professionals—planners, photographers, venues, florists, makeup artists, and more—get found on search engines so they can book more of their dream clients. We specialize in SEO for the wedding industry, offering both done-for-you SEO services (The SEO Fix https://saradoesseo.com/wedding-seo-services/seo-fix/) and a hands-on course (Wedding SEO Bootcamp https://saradoesseo.com/wedding-seo-bootcamp/) to make search engine visibility simple and effective.

What sets us apart? We focus exclusively on the wedding industry, understanding exactly how engaged couples search for vendors. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we create targeted wedding SEO strategies that get real results.

I’m most proud of making SEO approachable and actionable for creative business owners who often feel overwhelmed by it. Our mission is to help wedding pros grow their businesses sustainably—without relying solely on social media or paid ads.

How do you define success?
To me, success is finding work that doesn’t make you dread work—work that feels fulfilling, energizing, and aligned with what you actually enjoy doing.

It’s also about impact. Success is seeing my clients thrive—watching wedding professionals book more dream clients because of the marketing strategies we put in place. It’s knowing that my team gets to work in a way that offers flexibility and balance.
