Rising Stars: Meet Kasharria Jones of Apopka, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasharria Jones

Hi Kasharria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, and my love for makeup started unexpectedly at 16 years old. I was getting ready for a concert when I used foundation for the first time. That moment sparked my curiosity, and I began watching YouTube tutorials, learning everything I could about makeup. What started as a fun experiment quickly turned into a passion.

By my junior year of high school, I was doing makeup for my senior friends’ prom, and before I knew it, family, friends, and even friends of friends were asking for appointments. At the time, I was charging just $15-$20 for simple looks. That was back in 2013, and I had no idea then that I was laying the foundation for my career.

In 2018, I made the leap to become a full-time makeup artist, and in 2021 at the age of 25, I took a bold step by moving to Atlanta, Georgia, to expand my opportunities. Atlanta was a game-changer—I worked on major TV and film sets, collaborated with celebrities, and traveled all over the country, including New York, Texas, California, and Miami, to work with clients. The experience helped me grow not only as an artist but also as a businesswoman.

Now, I’m back in my hometown of Orlando, and I couldn’t be happier. My journey has been incredible, and I’m grateful to do what I love every day. Being a professional celebrity makeup artist and licensed aesthetician has allowed me to transform faces, boost confidence, and leave my mark in the beauty industry. And this is just the beginning!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles in this industry is the lack of job security. When you’re building your own business, especially as a freelance artist, there’s no guaranteed paycheck. There were times I didn’t know if I’d make enough to cover my bills, and that uncertainty can be overwhelming. But one thing I’ve learned is that you have to have an unshakable level of faith in yourself and in the path that God has set for you. Entrepreneurship is a journey that requires perseverance, trust, and a belief that something greater is ahead as long as you put the work in.

Moving to Atlanta was another major challenge. Orlando is my hometown—I had family, friends, and a support system that naturally helped me grow my name in the beauty industry. But when I moved to Atlanta at 25, I had to start completely from scratch. I didn’t know anyone, I had no built-in network, and I was stepping into a market filled with talented artists. I had to market myself aggressively, post ads, and put my work out there, hoping it would reach the right people. It was a test of patience and resilience, but looking back, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. It forced me to grow, sharpen my skills, and build something for myself.

Though the journey hasn’t always been easy, every challenge has shaped me into the artist and businesswoman I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a soft glam makeup artist specializing in effortless, polished looks for all occasions—weddings, birthdays, nights out, and more. My signature style is sleek yet natural, enhancing my clients’ beauty without overpowering it. What sets me apart is my adaptability; in an ever-evolving industry, I stay ahead of trends while keeping my work timeless and elevated. With over a decade of experience, I’ve learned to pivot, evolve, and refine my craft, ensuring I remain at the top of my game. I’m most proud of my resilience and dedication to growth, which have allowed me to build a thriving career while continuing to inspire confidence in every client I touch.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success, to me, is finding what you love, turning it into a thriving career, and showing up every day with passion and purpose. It’s about using your God-given talents to create meaningful experiences for others while also maintaining balance in your own life. As my own boss, I have the freedom to set my schedule, prioritize self-care, and spend quality time with family—all while doing what I love and making a living from it. For me, success isn’t just about work; it’s about building a life that feels fulfilling in every way.
